The media is a potent social instrument. Since prior years, its significance was crucial. In many ways, it had a big impact on how civilization was shaped. The media has undergone numerous changes that have contributed to its present form. In addition, its effects have changed considerably over time, making it a crucial component of our society. (Spielvogel, 2014).
The printing machine changed everything when it appeared in Europe in the 17th century. The invention was eventually realized after numerous technological changes. It gave writing a consistent and new look as compared to previous conventional ways of storing information which were in use. Presentation of documents became more organized as errors and grammar checks were in place. Public literacy increased as the ability to produce books and disseminate the knowledge became easy. What is more, political and religious views distribution improved by the creation of proper channels which lead to the rise of movements and shaping of historical events. The education and learning process transformed thus facilitating more coordinated research. Thus, the technological period increased literacy by lowering the expense of publishing materials (McKay, Hill, Buckler & Wiesner-Hanks, 2010).
Currently, the internet plays a significant role in our lives. It has enabled the realization of a global information network which allows global communication channels in real time transcending state territories. The world, in turn, gets connected to numerous aspects such as commerce, policy, and governance. On top of that, it has led to the more central organization of activities which have shaped political, social and economic aspects. The internet is an evolution of past technologies that has brought with it significant change and sparked information revolution across the globe. As a result of that, the impact of media has significantly changed.
The Reformation was one of the most significant religious movements that ever took place in the church. It challenged the Catholic Church on issues based on indulgences. Many factors contributed to the occurrence of the event. The period, later on, turned to be of high and enormous impact which changed the course of the society (McKay, Hill, Buckler & Wiesner-Hanks, 2010).
Regarding that, there were some causes of the Reformation. Among them includes previous attempts to reform the church. Individual spoke out against the papacy, purgatory, pilgrimage and auricular confession. The practices were unpopular and needed changes. The other issue was of the political and economic factors which were brewing up for quite a long while. The papacy got involved in corruption allegations, the revival of Greek and Roman classics, the invention of the printing press that allowed for a new channel of Enlightenment and the Renaissance period (Spielvogel, 2014).
The other factor was how the Roman Catholic Church controlled everything, and there was a need for reform to include political and economic factors. For Protestant survival, they needed to have the political and economic power that would rival that of Rome. All those factors played key roles in the reformation (McKay, Hill, Buckler & Wiesner-Hanks, 2010). The reformers on top of that laid their basis on several doctrines that guided their pursuit. They included the principles on which the church propagated its message and the framework governing religion and the attitudes toward Rome conducting their activities which were viewed as being corrupt.
We can therefore come to a conclusion that the Reformation period wasn’t basically of pure faith. Many underlying factors took center stage and had been around for a while which needed change to ensure fairness and an efficient system.
