Technology

Technology is defined to be the collection of expertise, practices, methods and procedures used in the development of resources and products, as well as the accomplishment of targets such as science study (Hammes, 2016). Human beings have begun to use technologies by turning natural capital into uncomplicated survival methods and making life simpler. Several technological advances have been made, especially during the industrialization period, leading to the emergence of telephone, internet and printing as firearms. Technology is currently commonly applied in all areas of the world, and all practices are related to one or more forms of technology. People in the modern world are dependent on the modern technology for communication, transport and other basic activities (Quesada & Soto, 2016). The three technological trends that are likely to affect the lives of ordinary people during the next twenty years include the internet, digital business, and telemedicine.

Telemedicine

Telemedicine refers the utilization of information technology and telecommunication in the allotment of medical data while in a different location to enhance the quality of clinical care (Richins, 2015). Although telemedicine was invented forty years ago with the goal of delivering care to marginal regions, it has spread drastically. Several hospitals in the world are integrating telemedicine into their care systems to increase profitability and promote accessibility and availability of quality care (Gaddi, 2016). Telemedicine is a critical emerging component of healthcare problem solution. The invention holds the promise to substantially affect some of the major issues of the current healthcare system such as the distribution of scarce providers, cost effective delivery and access to care. In the next twenty years, telemedicine will change the existing paradigm of care and permit the improved access and outcomes in a cost efficient manner (Buquet, 2016).

Telemedicine will impact the lives of ordinary individuals in the next twenty year by improving the quality and delivery of healthcare services. Within the next twenty years, 85 percent of hospitals and health institutions will implement telemedicine in their system thus improving health outcomes, reducing costs, increasing accessibility as well as improving the support for families and patients (Richins, 2015). Initially, the care will be accessed to all patient even those in remote areas while remote hospitals will be able to provide intensive and emergency care services. The patient diagnosis and treatment will be improved together with decreased mortality, hospital stays, and complications.

The health of ordinary people will be improved since telemedicine will reduce the healthcare costs via home monitoring programs and reduction of high-cost patient transfers. Besides, telemedicine will address misdistribution and shortages of healthcare practitioners. Health experts will be able to serve more patients per day using telemedicine when compared to the current health system thus dealing with the scarcity of nurses (Gaddi, 2016). Moreover, the society in the next twenty years will be health literates since telemedicine supports clinical health edification. People from different parts of the world will be able to receive continuous education on how to prevent, treat and diagnose illnesses. Clinicians in rural areas will be able to consult with specialists and obtain the continuous medical education.

Internet Technology

The Internet is one of the modern inventions that has impacted lives of many people and will continue to affect within the next twenty years. Internet technology is regarded as the capability of the internet to transfer data and information via distinct systems and servers (Quesada & Soto, 2016). The Internet refers to the worldwide system of interlinked computer networks that utilize Internet protocol suite to connect devices globally. Internet technology is significant in several industries since it allows individuals to converse each other via the means that were not available. The internet is the search engine that provides all types of information available in the world (MacKinnon, 2012). Ordinary people in the next twenty years will be able to keep on receiving international news and worldwide information thus promoting research and inventions in various fields. Also, the world will look like a village since the internet offers various effective means of communication such as instant messaging and online emailing.

Furthermore, the internet will move companies and businesses to higher levels through online transactions thus promoting integration and international markets. There will emerge virtual jobs that will require people to work while in their original locations without moving physically to the workplace (O’Regan, 2016). Through the internet, people will be able to avoid adverse situations and take action since news and warning notices will be communicated easily. Additionally, the internet has often permitted the interchange of material and ideas among university students, professors and scientist in addition to the provision of resource centers, servers and online tools for scholar and research activities (MacKinnon, 2012). Besides, people in the next twenty years will execute their democracy rights by voting virtually via the internet thus saving time used in the manual balloting.

Digital Business

Digital business is the business established using digital capabilities and assets entailing digital services, customer experiences and products or carried out via virtual communities and channels (Bremmen, 2013). Digital business will dominate in the next twenty years due to the steps made in internet inventions that promote interaction between people of different origins. Besides, digital business will have an impact on labor reductions, use of personal information and consumer goods revenue (Morabito, 2016). The business will disturb all corporate and industries executives hence technology providers will need to have alternative thoughts to avoid the disruption. Ordinary people will be able to shop online through their smart phones and personal computers. Moreover, the cash from will be facilitated through mobile banking hence reducing the cases of money insecurity since there will be no cash transactions (Balaouras, 2015). Furthermore, people will not struggle to purchase or sell their products because the digital business will provide a platform for advertisement and display of products and services. People from remote areas will be able to access products and services as well as selling their agricultural products.

Conclusion

In conclusion, technology has a great impact in the modern life and will continue to change how people live by making the living easier. However, the three major technological trends that will affect the lives of ordinary individuals in the next twenty years include digital business, internet technology, and telemedicine. Through telemedicine the crisis in healthcare will be solved thus promoting health outcomes, reducing cost and enhancing accessibility and quality health services. Besides, the internet will promote integration and communication globally thus boosting the flow of information. Lastly, digital business will create the virtual market where people from different corners of the world will sell or purchase products and services.
