For instance, he claims that the war transformed a nation that was bitterly divided along ideological lines, race, class, and regional into an ebullient country. I chose this source because it is scholarly and peer-reviewed. I will use this source to search for information on the positive significance of the 1812 war.

Hattendorf, J. B. (2014). The Naval War of 1812 in International Perspective: The Third Alan Villiers Memorial Lecture. The Mariner’s Mirror, 99(1), 5-22.

This source provides a full overview of the war. It offers extensive information on the causes of the war, the effects of the war on the naval and military operations as well as the political significance of the war. I choose this source because it provides a variety of perspectives regarding my project topic. I will use this article to research on how the war affected the military and naval operations.  

Fitz, C. A. (2015). The Hemispheric Dimensions of Early US Nationalism: The War of 1812, Its Aftermath, and Spanish American Independence. Journal of American History, 102(2), 356-379.

In this article, the author offers valuable information on the genesis and causes of the war. The article highlights the key factors that made the two great nations to go into war. The author also provides information on the impacts of war on the hemispheric nations. I choose this article because it is scholarly, credible, and objective. I will use this source to unleash information regarded to the causes of the war of 1812.

Conway, S. (2017). Privateering: Patriots and Profits in the War of 1812, by Faye M. Kert.

In this article, the author offers a unique perspective on the war of 1812. Unlike other sources that focus on the causes and impact of the war, Conway provides information on American and Canadian privateering in the war and the reasons for such action (either for patriotism or profit). I choose this source as it provides unique information regarding the parties involved in the war. I will use this source to find out if there were any other private individuals that were directly involved in the war apart from the American military and naval forces.    

Lossing, B. J. (1869). The Pictorial Field-book of the War of 1812: Or, Illustrations, by Pen and Pencil, of the History, Biography, Scenery, Relics, and Traditions of the Last War for American Independence. Harper & Brothers.

The book provides information on the causes and effects of the war of 1812. It offers valuable primary evidence on the implication of the war particularly to the United States and Canada. I choose this source because it is a primary source. I will use this book to research more on the effects of the war of 1812.

I found the sources from the internet; majorly from Google Scholar database, Journal of American history database, and Canadian Journal of History repositories. I did not experience any notable difficulty in this initial part of the project. The War of 1812 is a hugely studied topic, and thus there is a myriad of credible and objective sources.
