Jung Theory and Gardner Theory

Jung proposed a system of perceptual and judgement functions. The fundamental focus of Jung theory is on an individual’s personality. Personality can be defined as how a person interacts with others and presents themselves. It can be divided according on one’s feelings and attitudes regarding various topics of interest. Jung developed a test based on the judgement and perceptual functions in which one’s decisions in responding questions are evaluated. The test allows one to determine their strengths and weaknesses by using their intuition to answer a series of questions. On the other hand, Gardner theory is mainly based on one’s intelligence. The theory contains multiple bits of intelligence which are further broken down into criteria that are the basis of the seven multiple bits of intelligence in the theory. The Gardner theory is significant in helping individuals get more knowledge on their learning abilities and how they can accomplish their objectives and help others around them.

Using the Theories of Jung and Gardner to Identify My Top Three Strengths

Taking the Jung personality assessment, my results were that I am an ESFJ which means, Extraverted Sensing Feeling Judging. This result from the Jung assessment reflects who I am, how I interact with people around me, and how I present myself before them. The results reflect my personality. Some of the greatest strengths of this personality are that as a continuing student, I have a great drive and energy to get things effectively accomplished. In addition, this personality is associated with the ability to cooperate and create harmonious relationships with other students and teachers. Another strength is a sense of responsibility as I can be counted on doing what is laid down to be done.

Other Participants and Their Top Three Strengths

Two of my classmates undertook the test. They performed as ESFP which stands for Extraverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving and ENTJ which stands for extraverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging. The ESFP is good at creating open relationships with people around her, is more attracted to new ideas. Therefore, she loves ventures and is active on whatever she decides to undertake. On the other hand, ENTJ is confident in whatever activities he undertakes, has a natural leadership ability, and also has an ability to create systems and models that help him achieve his objectives.

My Top Three Strengths and How They Are Similar Or Different From The Two Participants

There are similarities and differences between our strengths. My strength, a great drive and energy, is similar to the active nature of ESFP in performing duties. We also share the ability to create relationships with people around us with ESFP. However, ENTJ has a leadership strength that we do not possess, and he is more confident in his activities than the strengths we have. My strength in having a sense of responsibility is different from the other two participants in the test.

Why Similarities and Differences Are Important To Know and Understand

Making comparisons of the strengths is important in getting an understanding of how one can achieve success. In addition, comparison enables one to understand their strengths and attitudes and how they can be able to utilize their strengths in achieving life goals. Furthermore, comparison helps to create interaction, know what the participants have in common, learn what causes differences between people, and correct any stereotypes that are based on physical qualities.
