Recently, the phrase “white supremacy” has appeared in news headlines. When it comes to the US leadership scene, the term has ignited a fiery discussion. The phrase has literary connotations that refer to white people’s inherent superiority over other races or ethnic groups. Over time, despotism and social injustice in the modern world have been credited to white supremacy (Du Bois 54). This essay will examine several pressing problems caused by white supremacy, including social injustice and political polarization, and propose solutions. White supremacy is one of the most dangerous ideologies in the world. It is cancer that continues to breed and kill each passing year. It has led to growing hatred of men toward fellow men (Du Bois 73). It is a channel that has led to exploitation of the people of color by the whites and justifying the exploitation by using the notion that the blacks are inferior. The first application of white supremacy was done by the white people, Euro-Americans, and those who were literally against indigenous people. The cycle carried on to the next generation of the blacks who were exploited as slaves and later used in the waged labor.
President Donald Trump has become one of the strongest supremacists of all times. His utterances are a clear indication of his sheer abhorrence towards the people of color (Charles 2). Trump believes that people of color are politically crippled and that they are unfit to hold any authoritative office. He has also been accused of holding closed door meetings to investigate the authenticity of president Obama’s credentials simply because he was a person of colour. This draws us sometime back in the coronial periods where the hard work was a reservation for the people of colour.
The rate at which the ideology of white supremacy is bred and nurtured has become so rampant and dangerous each passing year. It has taken another direction towards the question of racial discrimination. The chasm between the whites and the blacks is widening at an overwhelming rate with no hope of closing it in the near future. The altitudes of the whites towards the black of institutionalizing poverty and slavery have only hardened as time passes by. Whites are coming out clean to the public of their strong hateful standing towards the blacks. Blacks are reiterating from the other side of the people by forming support groups, which happen to be gang groups, to fight for their rights. This move exasperates the white and only widens the gap between the two.
Hopefully, there are a few stringent measures that can be applied in a bid to soften or to wipe out white supremacy. Speaking out is one of the ways to deal with the vice. All people across the globe must join in hands to collectively denounce the bullshit that is revolving around them. People must stand strong to deconstruct anything that the white supremacy stands for and send the message that it has no place here on the planet. Protesting is another way that can help take the effects of white supremacy. People must know when to speak and what to say when they speak.
White supremacy is a growing vice that has continued to cultivate deep hatred between the whites and the people of colour. It has been fueling the institutionalizing of the blacks towards slavery and so much more. Donald Trump has also made his abhorrence towards the people of colour clear. The vice must be tamed to avoid disregarding the world on a racial basis.
