The shortage of space in the teacher parking has led to an overflow into the paid parking. Since finding a space in the expensive parking lots that are far from the faculty has become a huge difficulty for the students, many of them now arrive to class late. By making sure that the existing control systems are never damaged and are always in working order, this issue can be resolved. To guarantee that the students park in the appropriate spots at the faculty, the agreed-upon systems must be upheld. The solution aimed at ending the current parking problem would be changing the current Car Plate Recognition system that is in place. There is need to check the functional capabilities of the systems and ensure that each feature is functional. The aspects of the system that have failed can be replaced and if the entire system is not able to function as expected, a system overhaul can be performed in seeking to ensure that the parking space is well controlled.
Automatic plate recognition system would have to be installed within the parking area to ensure that information about the vehicles in the parking is readily available. While the system monitors vehicles through the number plates, other features installed will also be helpful to the users as it can easily determine the number of vehicles in the parking and the spaces which are available. The location of the available spaces will also be defined to enhance the quick access to the space and minimise time wasting (Leaders Line, 2011). With the capability to capture vehicles moving at high speeds, this technology will not face challenges as no vehicles moving at high speeds at the parking.
The plan to implement the proposed systems will begin with the assessment of the functional capabilities of the Car Plate Recognition (CPR) system in place. The assessment will seek to evaluate the capabilities of the system based on the requirements and expectations of the users. This will include linking up with the security office for the specific information about the system. Getting the information will be critical to determining what is needed to make the system fully functional. This assessment will ensure that a decision is made on whether to replace the whole system or components of the system that have failed.
The next step will be the installation of the systems that have been identified as necessary to make the parking control system functional. These will include gadgets like cameras, software for interpreting the information and even database that can reproduce the information. No follow-up will be needed since the system has been applied in other places and proved to be effective.
ANPR parking system allows for the free flow of vehicles into a parking without any access control. The system is bale to recognise vehicles through CCD image sensors and has been utilized in many Arab countries on highways for security functions. With the capacity to identify a vehicle and provide information in the security resources about the vehicle and its owner, the safety of the parking lot will be significantly enhanced.
The Parkit costs AED 24,300 to purchase, and the installation costs can result in the installation process reaching about AED 30000 (Leaders Line, 2011). This cost remains affordable making the proposal a feasible project for the institution.
