The movie Waiting for Superman makes fun of the American public school system because so many students want to go into charter schools. Geoffrey Canada, the primary character, begins by airing his grievances. Throughout the movie, the guy expresses dissatisfaction with his job as a teacher. The movie, in my opinion, makes it abundantly evident how the American educational system has let its citizens down.
Political, educational, and social neighborhood elements are only a few of the things that have an impact on the US school system. Many politicians have taken advantage of the pitiable education system to gain political mileage and later ascend to power as the U.S president. Teachers achieve their tenure without acquiring the required training as is the case with politicians who exploit cultural and dogmatic frameworks. Some teachers become proficient teachers while others become mainstream teachers based on qualifications and proficiency. The difference between the two is that a good teacher can cover the entire curriculum while an average teacher will cover about 50% of the syllabus. The teachers incapable of performing cannot be easily fired because the terms of employment do not give the principal the power to fire such instructors. The bureaucracy used in the school system makes things more complicated. The notion is propagated because the federal government disburses money to the state which ends up serving different projects rather than expected roles. The dysfunction is the reason why some students fail in one state and subsequently perform in another due to diversities within the states.
The impact of education inequality and surprising realities. What surprised me most is that a significant segment of people in American jails are high school dropouts and the country spends more money than is utilized in private high schools and resources that could be used to fund college education. Another thing that surprised me most is that a good teacher covers more than what the curriculum requires extending up to 150% of what the syllabus requires while others require the pupils to do what they want and what is institutionally recommended. I went into an academic sinkhole because I came to believe that America is far from achieving education equality. The idea was fueled by the fact that pupils from low-income families perform poorly compared to kids in private schools. To attain excellent college grades, everybody within the academic fraternity should care about the students and work towards their academic achievements. The country has an obligation of encouraging the kids to study hard because some people are willing to diverge their thoughts into criminal activities and far away from the desire to pursue education. The process is complex, but the steps of encouraging the students to pursue their education to college level are very simple.
