The Marinating of “For Whom The Bell Tolls”

The Hemingway’s book for whom the bell tolls was written after he had come to know the war intimately. The play is about the Spanish civil war. The play targets a specific audience since it is about love matters. The people who have not attained adulthood age should not be exposed to such plays. In the play, Dorothy Bridges, ‘a bored Vassar bitch’ and a magazine correspondent, prefaces her statements with “Darling” and changes lovers many times in the course of the play only to end up with Philips Rawlings who is a play boy. The play is upsetting, confusing and sad at the same time. A publication with such characters is not for the general public.

The publication is too advanced. The play is emotionally and politically complex and creates an honest picture of war and individual personalities that were involved. The play is not to be watched by the faint-hearted since it involves violence, death and deprivation. Some themes are covered in the publication including love, betrayal, politics and mortality. The diversity of the themes covered makes the publication hard to analyse.

The information covered is opinion. The play is about Hemingway’s opinion concerning Spanish civil war and war in general. The publication presents the views of Hemmingway’s after he had intimately known the war. The information presented in the publication is not fact but the opinion about how the author views the play for whom the bell tolls. The author gives his opinion about the play when he argues that the play lacks dramatic intensity since the high point of the espionage has passed, and there is little to care about Rawling’s relationship with Dorothy.

The information presented is valid and well researched. The information is flowing just like the play. The play just as a publication starts with Hemmingway’s establishing the conflicts as Ai describes the describes the impossibility and goes ahead to inform Hank that he thinks he will die during the attack. The climax of the play occurs at the point where the balding drunk riding the elevator with six bottles of champagne turns to be a pilot hero who has lived through the adventure that he tells.  The publication presents the information just as it is presented in the play. The publication is well researched.

The author has an objective and impartial point of view. The author has analyzed the play just as it is without any biases. The author is not judgmental but criticizes when need be. The author views Ai Wagner as selfless. He is concerned not only with himself. This is revealed when Ai is seen to be ‘killing’ the night bit by bit in an attempt to try whatever will keep him from thinking as he says that he does not mind dying a bit only that it is wasteful. This presents Ai as a selfless person just as the publication does. The publication terms Jordan as an intellectual just as it is presented in the play. He is seen to blow the bridge for the people of Spain immediately for Maria, Pilar and Pablo’s band.
