Literature and Cultural Changes

Literature has developed and altered over time. Political and social aspects have been added. In our culture, changes and perceptions have been observed. Literature sheds light on gender norms and relationships. It criticizes domestic ideologies that associate the feminine with erroneous behavior, such as the Victorian self-fashioning that made use of prescriptive literature full of societal rules on the majority of womanhood’s responsibilities and the so-called appropriate behavior for females.

LGBTQ Theory and Literature

LGBTQ theory Ashley’s article included philosophical speculation and insightful observations on the concept of homosexuality, a problem that affects contemporary society. Before passing judgment on gay people, one must comprehend them. The gay/lesbian studies have also been anticipated by queer theory. The studies by different authors have seen the growth of many feminists. Literature has presented gay/lesbian in a study to challenge the notion of any normative sexuality.

Feminism and Literature

Feminists have been on the forefront trying to analyze the social position of women to men, and use such analysis to try fighting for their liberations. Literature has brought about the oppression and subordination of women in different dimensions like; sexual issues and psychological aspects. Women are also seen in an economic, political, ideological, and historical dimension. Despite the perception of men regarding women, some aspects are regarded as traditional stereotypes. Feminists tend to create diversity in the literature by focusing on the overlooked gender-based issues where the society judge individuals based on their sexuality and gender.

Theories in Literature

Those theories give out their meaning since they can turn the story we know around. The community can make us think regarding the gender roles within it, but critiques of different social aspects can make us see things differently. How we perceive things might be distinct from the other people. These theories pose as valuable tools in the field of literature.
