Anyone looking for their ideal job can benefit from taking the Holland personality/career test. I learned from the test findings that I am an investigator. The findings in every way point to a job in criminology, mathematics, or a scientific field as being the best fit for me. Working on novel theories is very enjoyable and fascinating. When presented with a variety of career options, the outcomes are beneficial in a variety of ways.

The findings include the inquisitive attribute as one significant finding. To be categorized as having an investigative mind, one must persistently seek out the answers to questions in order to solve an issue. This is one of the most distinct attributes I noted. With this knowledge, it will be constructive in arriving at the best career a person would want. For example, a detective or scientist needs to assess the situation by asking several questions analytically. Thinking and evaluating circumstances is another dominant aspect. Solving mathematics involves thinking and evaluating the mathematical situation. With this aspect solving robbery or murder cases will not seem problematic. I find fulfillment in solving cases. Another finding is the intellectual capability. Certain careers require high intellectual capability compared to others. There is a range of career options that one could choose from using this aspect and one of them is being a detective.

Based on my results, there are many characteristics of an ideal career I would want to pursue once I finish school. The job must have a creative and engaging environment. Routine activities every year is not something that I would prefer my career to have, for example, accounting. Another characteristic based on the results is that it should have a flexible schedule. Since the results indicate, I have an investigative mind, having a schedule that allows for relaxing after a hard task is necessary. Another characteristic is a career that has a diverse workplace. Just sitting at the same place in the same city for a long time is monotonous and boring. Having to move from place to place and engage in new activities is important for one who has an investigative mind.

A varied workplace with the stable environment is also necessary. Investigating something be it theory or crime requires an environment that is calm both emotionally and physically (Holland, 50). For one to be a great mathematician, one needs a stable environment to think about the math problems. My career should also be something that works on deadline. With deadlines, there is pressure to do the best and at the right time. People contact is also necessary. Considering am inquisitive, with socialization, answers are given. Socializing is important to keep my mind engaged and in getting people’s perspectives to a particular situation. The last career characteristic needed is team oriented. Working alone is not ideal in arriving at the best results. A career that is team oriented facilitates faster results. Any career that is detailed needs a hard-working team. This is one of the essential characteristics I would look for in my dream job.

My major has continued to help me get prepared for the ideal career, and that is being a successful civil lawyer. To be an excellent lawyer, one must be inquisitive. This is an advantage to me based on the Holland code personality and career test. Asking questions persistently to get to the root of the matter is something that my major in college has insisted on. Compulsory class and court discussions assist one to be prepared in the highly volatile criminal as well as the civil world. Internships program are also another way that my major is preparing me for my ideal career. Some majors do not find internships and attachments as necessary tools when it comes to improving personals and practical skills. These attachments shape a person’s career well. They encourage networking, and there also is real world experience. Interactions with law professionals are beneficial to one.

It is also helpful in ensuring that a career in civil law is successful. The district attorney is one the most wanted and admired jobs for any law student. My major has taught me the requirements for one to be a successful lawyer. One is being firm and knowledgeable in what one stands for basing all your facts in the constitutions. The good thing is that with the law degree, one can venture into other careers with the same knowledge gotten from the study, for example, a company secretary or a private investigator.

In conclusion, we can learn that Holland career test has helped a lot in arriving at the best career one would want to pursue. From my test results, we can see that an investigative personality is dominant meaning that a career in science or law is ideal for me. The results have also assisted in arriving at the best characteristic I would want in my career. These characteristics include a team oriented career, a varied workplace, and a sociable environment.
