Global contact relates to the various ways in which people can communicate, interact, and relate to one another through various divisions such as geographic, ethnic, political, and social divides. The research of global communication has aided in understanding how information, expertise, thoughts, and views are transferred through various regions of the world. People may chat with their families, families, and coworkers through different media such as Facebook, Skype, Twitter, and video conferencing. Several factors influence global connectivity, including rapid technological advances and the costs incurred during the communication process. Global communication plays a great role in the development of companies, organization and even the government. Companies and different organization require global communication to communicate with their stakeholders, customers and supplies across the world. Companies and organization are therefore able to always get updated about the status of their companies through global communication. Global communication also facilitates efficiency in carrying out government operations. Global communication therefore is key to the development of individuals as well as different states across the world (McPhail, 64).
Global communication has a lot of advantages across the world. Some of these advantages include the increase in business opportunities. With global communication, businesses are able to have new businesses opportunities not only in their own geographic region but also across the world. Increase in the number of business opportunities result to increase in the sales made by the business organization. This results to increase in the revenue generated and a corresponding increase in profits. Global business communication has played a major role in the growth of many businesses as well as their expansion to different areas across the globe (Hamelink 44).
On the other hand, global communication has made the world to be a really small place. This is due to the presence of forms of communication such as the use of electronic media which have made it possible for possible across the globe to be able to effectively communicate irrespective of long distances. The use of electronic communication such as the use of face book, twitter and Skype has made communication across different geographical areas of the world to be really cheap as opposed to the past where individuals used to make long and expensive phone calls. As a result, relatives and friends can communicate frequently. Moreover, global communication has made it easy for news to be communicated internationally within short periods of time. This has promoted the quick transmission of information across different regions of the world (McPhail,24).
In addition, global communication has played a great role in improving cultural education across different regions of the world. This is due to the fact that children and students from different regions can learn about different cultures from different regions in the world through communication channels such as pen pal programs. In this case, the children exchange ideas through pen pal on how their culture is unique and different from that of others. On the other hand, teachers in academic institutions can employ their technological skills to use resourceful persons such as political leaders and cultural experts to teach students on the differences in cultures across different regions of the world (Hamelink 19).
On the other hand, through global communication, companies and businesses are able to get cheap labor and material for use. This is due to the fact that they are able to access different suppliers of goods and services and choose the ones which the best and most affordable offer. This helps in reducing the costs of the procurement of goods and services which further increases the profits made. This has particularly led to increased relations among different countries across especially those that are offer goods and services at low prices (McPhail 36).
The availability of global communication facilitates the development of new products across the world. This is because an organization or company is able to get feedback on the products it offers. Based on the concerns of the customers, they are able to come up with new and more advanced products that are able to suit the needs of the customers. The use of internet as well as the opening of existing trade barriers has mainly contributed to the development of these new products. This is mainly enhanced by the presence of common languages that are used in global communication. Lack of language impediments prevents communication breakdown (Hamelink 68).
Advancement in global communication has also been disadvantageous to some individuals such as typists who have lost their jobs because their roles can be handled by computers and other technological gadgets. On the other hand, the efficiency of technological gadgets such as computers is easily affected by computer viruses, worms and Trojans which lower their efficiency. This is likely to result to the disruption of the day to day operations of individuals working in different parts of the world (McPhail 41).
