Paragraph 1: Civil Rights Movements

There have always been civil rights campaigns since the dawn of civilization. Aiming to defend individual and societal freedom from any type of infringement by the government, private individuals, or other social groups, civil rights movements are non-governmental organizations. They are also motivated by the desire to prevent any form of discrimination or repression from preventing any member of a group from engaging in political and civil life of the society. The research will examine the idea of civil rights movements, how they have changed over time, and how political alliances and competing ideologies have impacted their development. Over the years activities of the civil rights movement have been characterized by several events over time. However, most civil right movements in the world are developed to ensure societal access to mental and physical integrity and ensuring the life and safety of the members of the society. They have always pioneered the roles such as protecting people all forms of ill-treatments as a result of their race, gender, color, age, political affiliations, national origin, religion disabilities, and sexual orientation, (Goodwin et al.)

Paragraph 2: The Evolution of Civil Rights Movements

The evolution of civil right movements can be described a systemic and efficient process and could be traced to early activities that took place in the then Roman entire. The Roman citizens were at the time divided into two categories i.e. they are either free (liberatas) or servile (servitus), however, each categorization had its right has offered by the then Roman laws. After the introduction of the Edict of Milan in 313, the civil rights of all Roman citizens was expounded to include the right to religion. However, with the fall of the Roman Empire during the middle age, its legal doctrines were lost. However, they still retain active acknowledgments in history for the providing an origin of civil right laws in the world. In the 17th century, the passage of the English common law, by Judge Sir Edward Coke, was referred to as a factor that revived the concept of civil right in the world. Sir Edward based his argument on the fact that the Englishmen historically were entailed to rights and hence it must be enforced by the provisions of the law. This lead to the adoption of the English bills of right by the British parliament in 1689. The Virginia Declaration 1789 has been referred to as the origin of civil right laws in the United States, (Tindall et al.).

Paragraph 3: Competing Ideas and Political Alliances

There have been competing ideas and political alliances that have affected the growth of civil right movements in history, and in recent times, the prominent of amongst such is that of slavery among blacks. There was a time in history when the idea of keeping or owning African American slaves was politically and legally correct. The legalization of slavery the United States led the preparation of unimaginable acts against the Black community, such as discriminations, torture, and even indiscriminate killings. Based on these societal vices that were directed against the black community, there was a need for the development of a civil right movement that will be saddled with the responsibility of end all form discrimination against blacks and ensuring that they also enjoy equal rights like their counterparts from other races. The idea of slavery at the time led to the creation of the civil right movement and based on the philosophical configuration of such ideas, the African America civil right movement grew and was accepted in the entire black community in America. Over the years, most of its demand has been implemented in the United States, (Anderson). In recent times, ideas such has gay rights also known as the LGBT have been on top consideration in the world of civil rights movements. The gay right is a civil right movement that seeks societal acceptance for members of the community that have different sexual orientation. The campaign aims to prevent any form of discrimination against this group of people and seeks to ensure that all civil rights are accorded them. Based on the shared ideologies of the drivers of this civil right, it has continued to grow and has been accepted in the United States and some other parts of the world. There is need to point out the presence of competing ideas and political alliances affect the growth of civil and social right movement by either presenting an ideology for them to support or oppose. When competing ideas and political alliances are in favor of the society, there is little or no need for civil rights movement hence the limited availability of such organization. However, with the increase pressing societal issues, there has been increase in growth of social and civil rights movements such as the LGBT and the African American movement.

Paragraph 4: The Need for Equal Rights

The society is built on the need for equal rights for all members irrespective of the differences in factor such age, race, and believe. Civil right movements are created to ensure the attainment of equal rights for members of the society. There is need to point out that political alliance and contemporary ideas in the world have led to the development of several civil right movements. Based on the intensity of the creators of these movements, such social organizations have grown and have increased their influence in their country of origin while some have spread their influence across other countries of the world, having most of their ideological demand accepted and implemented across the globe.
