A group of ten people will be on this team for the exercise. The secretary position will be held by one member, and the leader by another. The team will concentrate on finding more effective ways to protect the environment.

Team Development plan

The selection of the team’s secretary and leader will be one of the first tasks. The team will next move on to drafting the goals that must be accomplished in order to reach its final target. The secretary will be responsible for ensuring that the listed goals are accomplished within the allotted period. The group must develop ideas on how to tackle issues that will be observed in the system that will be selected for use by the team in systems thinking.

Team learning refers to endeavors by a group of individuals who have come together to collectively work towards achieving a certain goal. Team learning becomes different from normal learning by a single individual, in that it calls for the sharing of thoughts and ideas. The richness in variety of ideas and thoughts on how the set goal can be achieved, becomes important in that it facilitates a more effective problem solving strategy. Team learning is most effective when individual members are have high cognition ability and with a workload that is equally distributed and it is negatively affected if its members high in agreeableness with either functional or divisional structures rather than in a paired structure. (Ellis & Moon H., 2003).

Systems thinking is a discipline that concerns itself with the clear comprehension of a certain system by means of examining the apparent interactions among the various components that make up this system. Systems thinking provides a means by which a system can be analyzed and easily understood.

For the selected team, I have chosen the discipline of environmental conservation. This discipline is important as it has lately become increasingly important that human beings take care of the environment to avoid a number of adverse effects that are becoming more likely to happen if we do not take good care of the environment.

During the session, I intend to have my team learn ways through which each individual can take responsibility and care for the environment. One exercise that will be used to demonstrate this will be to organize the team into two groups and have each group help with litter collection around the community as well planting a few trees.

Post session summary

During the session, we examined the team exchanged ideas on how the environment could take care of to avoid degradation. The points that aware raised by the team members were noted down. The system that was under study here was the environment as a whole. Members paid attention to the immediate problems that were facing the environment as a system. Some suggested that too many trees had been cut down in the recent years and that it was important to have some new trees get planted.

It was suggested that members meet at a particular meeting place to demonstrate how the environment can be conserved. Planting of a few trees was part of the tasks that were listed for execution. It was also agreed that the group would be divided into two parts and each part will be assigned a different task. One group participated in litter collection while the other mainly did the tree planting task.

Each member in the team did some good work to help the team achieve the objectives that had been set. Some members proved useful in giving out very useful suggestions whenever the leader asked for a way forward in a particular matter.
