Joost Siemerink is a renowned Dutch horse rider and trainer not only in the Netherlands but also in the rest of the world. Joost Siemerink was born on July 8th, 1987 in Boxtel, a town located in the south of Netherlands, together with his twin brother Thom. They grew up in Boxtel for a few years and they later moved to Dronten together with their parents where they began school riding. Since they moved to Boxtel, Joost and Thom were ever watching horse riding competitions in the riding school. Thus, they developed interests in the riding competition and they decided to try out riding horses. After a few months of training, Joost and his brother Thom took part in a competition and won their first and second prize. Since then, Joost and Thom become more engaged and fanatical in equestrian sports in all their days.

Sports Career

After graduating from High School, Joost Siemerink and Thom began studying Horse business and Management at AOC de Groene based in Zwolle, Dolfsma. After being trained on Horse Business and management, they enhanced more training experience at Stal Brinkman in Twello, Jeroen Dubbeldam, Dolfsma in Kampen, Horsthoekhoeve in Heerde, H & H Stables in Daarle and Alan Waldman in Putten. In these stables, Joost and Thom took part in national competitions and won a majority of them. Moreover, they were awarded their ORUN certificates which enabled them to start educating and teaching people on show jumping lessons. In 2009, Joost and Thom decided to move to Welsum, where they reside up to date. In Welsum, they were able to acquire more space where they were able to train more horse in addition to others located in other stables across the Netherlands.  With time, the number of horses they were training increased rapidly and in 2012 JTS-Pardeen was officially launched. The other activities undertaken by Joost apart from training riders and participating in horse riding sports is training horses. Besides the private lessons that Joost Siemerink offers, he also teaches at riding club. He has specialized in giving instructions to all types of horses and individuals as well. Many families whose children have interests in horse riding seek Joost for his expertise and this continues to make his engagements wider as a busy coach. Joost Siemerink’s cutting edge is based on his willingness to train riders at home and also offer them support at shows whenever they need his help. After many years of performing in show jumping, JTS-Horses have built an international network. Due to this network, Joost and Thom have been able to offer expert advice on horse maintenance and purchase counseling: either selling or buying horses. JTS-Horses are dedicated and aimed at coaching, teaching and educating show jumpers and riders within and outside the Netherlands. Out of these training that Joost and Thom conducted, they were able to gain experience in top-level show jumping stables in Holland. Over the years, Joost and Thom have achieved a lot of success in national and international shows such as the London national show where they emerged top. After his training in AOC, Joost was recognized as the Dutch all weather Champion Trainer in the year 2007 and 2008 after training his first GR1 winner. Up to date, Joost continues to enhance and improve his strike winning rate. During the various Dutch Championships, Joost and Thom become among the successful riders. During the Liverpool International Horse Show of 2014, Joost was recognized for his exemplary performance. Another key achievement in Joost’s career is training and riding a stallion named “Big Star” when he was only three years old. Today, ”Big Star” is recognized as one of the most famous horses in the world. During the Olympic Games in Brazil Rio de Janeiro 2016, ”Big Star” won a gold medal courtesy of Joost. In Ukraine, Joost has been widely recognized and commended for his excellent horse training and riding. Thus every month, Joost is normally invited to Ukraine to train riders and support them in competitions. Largely, Joost has gradually risen the ranks since he was young and has become a professional horse rider and trainer. In other countries such as Ukraine and England, Joost’s success and great achievements have been recognized due to the awards he has received such as the Eclipse award and Triple Crown Trophy. Right from his childhood, his desire and passion for horse riding were later to become a professional engagement and art that has been well perfected and this has seen him win numerous trophies at local and national levels. During his study at AOC de Groene based in Zwolle, Joost was able to achieve hands-on experience which has been of paramount significance in educating and training both horse riders and show-jumpers (horses), not only in the Netherlands but also in other countries. Throughout the years, Joost Siemerink has recorded tremendous achievements and successes at international as well as national shows. In the various competitions such as the Cartier Racing Award, Joost has emerged as one of the pioneering participants. Additionally, Joost has been awarded many titles for being an exemplary coach who is able to break in and train young horses, a fact that has seen his business being trusted by many people who continue to bring their horses for training. 

Coaching Experience

Joost and Thomas have had vast coaching experiences throughout their lifetime. JTS-Paarden is the training ground that the two brothers established for people to train together with their horses. One of the key specialties that Joost and Thom have embraced is nurturing and training a young horse until it becomes fit for competition. Joost and Thom have always taken time to ensure that a well-trained Sport-horse has been delivered. Big stables all over the Netherlands have brought their stallions for training at the JTS –Paarden due to their renowned excellence in the coaching experience. Joost and Thom spend most of their days in the stables coaching people on how to ride horses. In other days, they are normally engaged in training horses on how to enhance their jumping and riding skills. Many inspiring horse riders have found their way at JTS- Paarden for horse training experience and this has expanded Joost’s and Thom’s career greatly. Joost and Thom have trained horses of all ages, both young and old. Moreover, JST-Paarden has been a recognized company where interns from across the country come to learn. Joost and Thom have always dedicated their time in coaching these interns all about horses. Right from their first day, interns are coached on how stallions are nurtured and cared for. They are well educated on the best food that stallions eat so that they become healthy and ready for training. Thereafter, interns are coached on how to ride horses when they are young. Thus, interns are able to develop core riding skills successfully. Moreover, they are also educated on safety measures while riding horses. These measures include wearing protective gears, and how to respond in case a horse goes out of control while riding. During their final period, interns get to interact with the older horses and get trained on how to ride them. In Welsum, Joost established Equine learning programs to enhance coaching experience for participants who were interested. These programs have enabled Joost coach many horse owners and aspiring interns who have been able to achieve core competent skills with regards to horse management. In his hometown Welsum, approximately 95% of all horse owners have been trained by Joost Siemerink,

Referee experience

In the various Dutch championship horse competitions that have taken place, Joost has been a critical patrol Judge. His main roles as a judge were ensuring that all the horses are run fairly and safely without any rule being violated. Additionally, he was tasked to ensure that all horses were correctly placed in order at the end of the race to ensure that correct results are administered. In a harness race that he attended, he rode in the starter car to observe the entire race from the moving vehicle. Joost earned his licensure to work in a harness from the AOC de Groene.  In the Drafcentrum Alkmaar where exciting day outs are offered to follow horse races that take place, Joost has served as a judge in several of the competitions. His major role was keeping an eye and observing horse races to single out anything that may make the race unbiased in any way such as safety threats or violations. In Ukraine, he also served as a judge in one of the competitions he attended. Here, he was to inform the stewards of any notable issues or occurrences in the race for them to have the final say regarding the results of the race.

Joost Siemerink’s Current Activities

Up to date, Joost and his brother are still engaged in Horse riding and training. They continue to offer their excellent services to people from not only the Netherlands but also other parts of the world such as Europe. Joost and Thom are actively involved in offering jumping lessons to horses of all age levels. Apart from offering private lessons to people in the Netherlands, Joost is an instructor in various riding clubs in Broekland, Raalte, Bussloo, Heeten, and Olst. For several years now, Joost has been flying all the way to Ukraine on a monthly basis. Here, he has been teaching horse riders how to gallop superbly and offer other training skills at their various homes and support riders at shows and competitions. Due to the international network that JTS-Paarden has established, Joost and Thom are currently engaged in commercial horse businesses. In the JTS-Paarden, there are horses reserved for commercial purposes. Joost sales horses on regular basis and offer expert advice of handling of horses. Currently, Joost and Thom have established ties with other companies. Some of the partners that Joost Siemerink collaborates with include; Sport-Elite, Dier, Tuin & Ruiltersport, De Margaretha Hoeva (Audi Team), Brinkman Twello, Niek Jansen, and Springstall Jurjan Bloem. These collaborations are aimed at improving Joost’s commercial businesses. In the commercial segment, Joost is a Bloodstock agent who represents sellers and buyers of racehorses. Likewise, he avails professional appraisals of horse values and buys horses at auctions on behalf of clients. During weekends, Joost is normally a Jockey agent in Amsterdam. He is normally engaged in lining up mounts for the jockey he represents. Mostly, he is involved with talking to other horse trainers to book mounts, keep logs of riding engagements, evaluating races to come up with the most viable prospects and conducting administrative roles such as organizing travel arrangements. During the morning hours, Joost and Thom ride their racehorses to exercise them. On special occasions, they are normally contracted by other people to perform morning workouts for their horses as a part-time job. Among other activities, Joost is a track veterinarian. Through his experiences, Joost Siemerink has given more insights into horse training and coaching not only in the Netherlands but also in other parts of the country such as Ukraine and England. From the analysis and research of Joost Siemerink’ life and experiences, it has been noted that the early childhood of an individual can potentially influence his or her later career or personality. Joost Siemerink got good exposure from his parents that helped him to reach his goals, by the fact that they had started a school that instilled in him the urge to try horse riding. Though Joost did not engage for a long time as a judge in horse racing, he has been recognized for his exemplary observations and judgments for the few times he has participated as a judge. Indeed, Joost Siemerink is a pioneer in Horse training and riding based on the research above. In the Netherlands, he is a role model for many people aspiring to be horse owners.  Lastly, in the commercial business, Joost Siemerink is a driving force behind the JTA-Paarden commercial success. He has established good relations countrywide and worldwide in a manner that has provided an ideal platform for trading horses.
