All lovers of art and sketches should visit Sir John Soane’s Museum

The museum, which was once Soane’s residence, shows a range of images and models of his projects in addition to a collection of artworks and antiquities that he gathered over the course of his lifetime (Kim 2015).

The Dome area, the Collonade, and the Museum Corridor make comprise the museum’s most well-known section in the back.

The picture gallery in this part of the museum was ingeniously designed as it has movable planes designed in the form of large cupboard doors that allows it to hold three times as many pictures as a space of its size could accommodate in the normal arrangement (Moldoveanu 2000).

When visiting one can view the large variety of pictures by requesting the guides to open these planes though one has to wait for a group to gather before the opening is done.

The domed breakfast room

The domed breakfast room is another site to behold while at the museum.

The room is endowed with convex mirrors that have fascinated and influenced architects across the globe.

Adjacent to the breakfast room is the library-dining room that reflects Etruscan tombs and even old design collections of small pendants that resemble those in fan vaulting (Sir John Soane and London. 2007).

The dining room is decorated in a vibrant ’Pompeian’ red.

In this section, there is a collection of Roman architectural fragments.

The external side, which is the yard, is filled with medieval stonework collected from the Palace of Westminster (Soane.org, 2017).

The Museum itself depicts precisely who Sir John was and also impacts a mood of inspiration in every visitor especially those whose careers are inclined in the fields of art, paintings and photography.
