Young women in California have the right to public safety when pursuing diverse public occupations to serve the nation, particularly while working in respective offices. Senator Tony Mendoza was recently suspended by the state’s Senate leader owing to various complaints presented by concerned members of the public. The leader increased efforts to ensure that inquiries begin in order to alienate sexual harassments. The step done was aimed to remove the head through suitable state legislative means in order to correct the inappropriate activities using the legal means. The resolution done by Tem Kevin who is the president of the Senate was made few days after the accusations against the senator, which led to the suspension from the financial and banking facilities committee in addition to other agencies and boards (Bellantoni). The committee responsible for Senate rules is expected to meet in an emergency conference this month in order to consider the action to be taken against Mendoza. However, the senator will not be removed from his position in other governmental committees as per the leader of the Senate’s office. The latter has denied the allegations terming them to be politically instigated and aimed at ruining his career as well as interfering with his public image.
The author of the article has been able to validly justify the facts using several social media handles whereby the members of the public have been airing their views, thus bringing the issues to the limelight. In a twitter handle managed by a concerned lady, her comments justify the allegations since one of her close friend who happens to be working in the senator’s office was once sexually harassed and threatened not to report to the authorities. The women working in the California legislature have raised concerns whereby they insist on a unified itinerary of actions to be taken on this issue through expressing any concerns to the public to create awareness (Bellantoni).
The action displays an ideology in political biases in the California Senate since the women tend to be oppressed just like in the old times since the legislators tend to be conservative to the women oppression culture. The issue appears to be very relevant because the rights of the latter working in various legislative positions are usually violated. The violation comes at a time whereby the country has been known to ensure equal rights to every individual with the issue derailing the development in the state (Bellantoni).
In my opinion, the author’s argument is strongly beneficial to the public since the awareness created shows that the administrators usually tend to take advantage of their positions to oppress women who require assistance from them. The author has assisted in identifying the challenges faced by women while trying to achieve something or rather working in these environments. The wake conducted in the previous month included a letter signed by women who were complaining about an enveloping culture of sexual aggravation whereby various legislators tried to understand the extent of the challenge and, as a result, formulate necessary measures to be taken in case of the oppression.
In conclusion, the state has deliberated on an affirmative action as all abuse complaints are supposed to be transmitted to external investigators. The recommendations include up-to-date services that are meant for the abuse victims and supposed to be transparent with fair investigations as well as reporting systems being enhanced. It will ensure that women feel more secure while working or seeking services from legislative offices.
Article 2. Jim Tankersley. Will a Corporate Tax Cut Lift Workers Pay? A Union Wants it in Writing. New York Times, 23 Nov. 2017.
The New York Times is yet another American-based newspaper that has a great influence not only in the country but also in the world. It was founded in 1851 with the main headquarters being based in New York City with the second largest circulation in the state. The newspaper has played a great role in politics of the nation since it was initiated, thus taking part in the revolution of the United States. In a recent article by Jim Tankersley, the main focus is placed on the budget crunch, which is a result of the Republican tax plan. After undergoing the crisis that was caused by the recession in the past ten years, Oregon State has experienced an economic upswing with the jobless rates going below 4% from the initial 12% in 2009.
Consequently, the values of securing a home in the state have increased since people are migrating from other states to come and live in the region. The net migration documented for around 88%, which has resulted in an amplified population growth. However, the state officials are worried by the economic progress since it is about to be affected by the $1.5 trillion undercut that has been placed by the Republican tax plan, which is being discussed by the Congress (Tankersley). Legislators argue that the plan is meant for the public growth as well as strengthening the economy while the Oregon officials state that the bill will have negative effects. A major impact is that the cost of securing a residence in the state will be very low, which in turn will lead to the dense population, thus affecting the local budget. It will also affect other states together with the officials of blue ones such as the New Jersey, New York, and California since the warning is on taxpayers’ plan that will strain the budgets. In addition, the changes will affect the real estate’s market, thus prompting the residents to abandon the luxurious coastal states moving to places that require low taxes.
The main concern of the changes is the fact that the Senate attempts to exercise libertarian practices through repealing the local and state taxes to be reduced, thus allowing people to enumerate their tax return, which reduces the state income, property sales that need payment as well as the sales made (Jim n.p). The tax fracture will be claimed by people from various parts of the country although it will be highly utilized in higher taxes regions such as California. The issue will be of great relevance since the deduction has been a target by many Republican legislators who consider the tax break as a way to subsidize the poorer states. The poor red states usually provide to the rich states who in turn invest heavily in various services in the government (Tankersley).
I highly agree with the author’s opinion since the tax plan will ensure that people in the United States no longer face oppression as the revenue collected in the rich states will be equally shared to cater for people living in poor conditions as well as the freedom to relocate to any part of the country as per an individual’s desire. In conclusion, the plan is meant to favor the taxpayers since any person will be legible to owning an apartment in the rich states where they can easily invest and raise their living standards.
Article 3. Amy Goldstein. Enrollment in ACA Health-Care Plans Running ahead of Last Year. Washington Post, 22 Nov. 2017.
The Washington Post was founded in 1877 with its headquarters in the capital city of the USA and the main focus is usually placed on the national politics. A recent article by Amy Goldstein focuses on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) with the 2018 enrollment that was recently concluded. From the article, it becomes evident that the number of people signing for the service in America has increased as compared to the last year’s rates. In the current sign-up period that commenced on 1st November, this number equals approximately to 2.28 million citizens, which is an improvement as per the Medicaid services and Medicare illustrations. The percentage of new enrollments in the ACA insurance has risen from 23% in the first two weeks to 28% in the third and fourth weeks (Goldstein). The most recent evidence associated with the persistent interest by consumers in the program coverage was adopted immediately after its introduction in 2010 under the healthcare law.
However, the data does not solve the ambiguity posed by the enrollment statistics that defy the predictions of assertive opposition under Trump’s administration. These include the 90% advertisement cut as well as other outreach strategies that are meant to encourage further signup in the program (Goldstein). The author clearly distinguishes the facts using statistics that have been taken since the program was initiated during the former president’s reign.
The ideology appears to be politically biased since it attempts to conservatively deny the people services and, in turn, utilize the funds allocated for the program for other national purposes. Therefore, it oppresses the poor people in the society who may not be able to meet their medical needs on their own (Goldstein).
The issue has a great relevance in every individual living in the country since it was meant for every citizen in the USA. As a result, I tend to agree with the author since the Republican leadership has sabotaged the project for other gains. The access to the program will ensure that every individual living in the country is entitled to affordable healthcare regardless of the personal political ideology or location.
In conclusion, the attempt to offer affordable medical services should be highly upheld since it was meant to benefit all people in the country despite their economic background. However, the project has been politically sabotaged in a way that only a small percentage of the population in the country has clear information about the issue; thus, the oppressed in the society are subject to suffering.
