Report on ASICS Company

This report’s primary goal is to promote ASICS Business to a private investment company looking to buy or invest in it. Sports equipment is the focus of the Japanese multinational ASICS. For a wide range of sports and games, the company manufactures a variety of sports footwear and equipment. In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka founded the business in Kobe. The firm’s original name, Onitsuka company Limited, was taken from the name of the owner at the time, and at that point, its primary focus was the manufacture of basketball shoes. A sound mind in a sound body is the meaning of the Latin phrase “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano,”sound mind in a sound body” in 1977 (“About ASICS | ASICS US”, 2017) . The change of the name was coupled with a shift in the company’s focus in that it started producing products that were aimed at promoting total health and fitness as well as a happy lifestyle. In the 1980s a research center for testing the quality of athletic equipment as well as the suitability of the footwear for the sportsmen was started at Kobe so as to ensure that all the products were of substantial assistance to the sportspeople.

The meaning of the acronym ASICS(Anima Sana in Corpore Sano which means ’ a sound mind in a sound body’ ) itself depicts to what extent the company upholds ethics and morals. The soundness of mind and body is the key philosophy upon which the company was founded, and it is upon which each and every innovation, concept, and idea is grounded. The main intention of the company is to come up with best products at all times. The company upholds high levels of moral standards as it takes upon itself the responsibility of ensuring the total harmony of body and soul of each and every customer of its products. In providing complete customer satisfaction, the company allows customer visits and makes sure that it is its moral obligation to produce tailor-made products upon customer inquiry.

The research center at Kobe is one of a unique feature of the company. It is in this research center that every product produced by ASICS is studied, evaluated and tested to make sure that it is of the highest possible quality and standard and that it offers maximum comfort to a prospective sportsperson. Scientists, coaches, and athletes work together in this research lab to ensure that a product under investigation and production is the best there can be in the market (“About ASICS | ASICS US”, 2017) . In the research institute, the products are tested against the analysis of the movements of the human body as well as against a variety of materials. The team of 200 people who work in the institute, cooperate to ensure that professional and recreational athletes can perform best and enjoy their sports activities fully without any injury or harm. The company uses three-dimensional measuring systems to develop shoes with a perfect fit. To ensure complete employee safety and freedom ASICS condemns involuntary or forced labor by all means.

ASICS avails a variety of equipment and footwear for a broad range of sports. The company ensures that it produces products for all people regardless of their age or gender. To ensure that it benefits all people, the company has been able to create footwear, accessories, and clothes for men, women and even children of all ages. Though started with the aim of producing basketball shoes initially, the company has expanded its factory, and now it provides footwear and other equipment required for a variety of sports such as football, volleyball, running, wrestling, athletics among others. Some of the products include sports bras for women as well as swimsuits, tops, and bottoms, socks, outerwear and accessories for both genders. The company avails various sizes of the products from which every customer can make a choice.

Due to its focus on the comfort and safety of the sportspeople, the reputation of ASICS has risen to a significant degree. The fact that the company provides an extensive variety of products that a customer can choose from makes it the preferred one-stop market for footwear, sports equipment, and accessories. The thorough study, analysis, and testing of each and every product that the company produces and avails to the world market has raised its credibility and has built the reputation of the company across the globe. Due to the high regard for morals and ethics the company has earned respect and favor from both its customers and the public as well.

ASICS has a substantially stable financial status. Stable financial status is one reason a person or an investment group would choose to invest in a firm (Pendarvis, 2017). The average revenues as of December 2015 was ¥428.4 billion. The company’s operating income was ¥27.4 billion with a net income of ¥10.2 billion as of the same year. Sixty-six percent of the total revenue comes from the sale of footwear while the remainder comes from the sale of other sports equipment as well as other accessories. Over the years, the income margin of ASICS has progressively risen due to its excellent reputation which has made it become a preferred producer of sportswear and sports equipment.

In conclusion, investing in ASICS would be a great and a successful venture. Due to the progress in the rise of the income margin over the years, a new owner would be guaranteed substantial income growth year after year. The company has been in existence for 68 years this shows its stability and indicates that the firm is a lifelong venture one can invest in. New sports and games are coming up day after day, and hence the company’s new and existing products will always have a market, and this is one major reason as to why investing or acquiring ASICS would be a good engagement.
