I’m delighted you enjoyed reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night. I wholeheartedly concur with you that the book offers a thorough understanding of the autistic condition. The protagonist of the story is not classified as autistic by the author, who prefers to let the reader discover the character’s problems as they unfold and characterize them. For instance, the author’s portrayal of the main character suggests that he can only be classified as autistic based on his conduct. Additionally, based on the criteria of autism, Christopher’s traits throughout the novel support the diagnosis (Haddon, 2007). In most cases, the society is filled with stereotypes that wrongly represent autistic people. In most cases, people with autism are viewed as individuals who are unreasonable, illogical and hard to connect. But this is not the case and the author helps to bring out the truth by showing that autistic individuals such as Christopher have feelings and thoughts that make sense to their lives. According to the story, an autistic person has an excellent memory in the same way that Christopher is portrayed and also performs well in mathematics at school.

Nonetheless, some of the problems that they might face include struggling to communicate, failure to create relationships and difficulty in understanding and regulating emotions. For that reason, the good thing with the story is that it allows a reader to understand and connect with a person who has autism in a manner that people might never be in a position to do in real life. The author allows the readers to see beyond autism and embrace the complete person.
