An executive order to support historically black colleges and universities was signed by President Trump on February 28. It intends to enhance private support for these schools, encourage more students to enroll there, and find strategies for the executive branch to help the colleges prosper. In accordance with Section 1 of the order, the private sector must strengthen the financial stability of HBCUs, provide job opportunities for students, improve infrastructure, and work closely with high schools to establish a college pipeline and increase opportunities for federal contracts and grants.
The timing of the amendment could not be more ideal for African American kids. Recent data shows a gradual decline in their enrollment rate. Additionally, the policy will promote racial equality in the education sector by encouraging enrollment from both white and black students. The fact that the policy does not attract any conflict, it should be embraced by anyone interested in improving the academic qualifications among the American populace.
On February 7, President Trump signed an executive order that seeks to reduce violent crimes in America and comprehensively address drug trafficking and illegal immigration. Section one directs the Attorney General to form a task force that will come up with laws and strategies to decrease crime and assess the effectiveness of criminal data collection and utilization systems.
By curbing illegal immigration, the legislation will significantly reduce the number of crimes committed by undocumented individuals whose statuses make them difficult to track down. It comes at a time when many people are criticizing the administration for failing to issue proper identification documents to immigrants which would otherwise give them legal access to critical social services.
