Dear Sir,

Re: ARNP’s to be Given Permission to Subscribe to Suboxone

I am writing this email in reference to the fact that nurses are feeling restricted in performing their daily duties because they cannot write prescriptions for controlled substances. As a nurse, I have realized that sometimes we have to let a patient suffer in pain or discomfort simply because the drug that would aid their recovery is a controlled substance. This is a humble request to you sir to allow ARNP’s to prescribe to Suboxone.

Sir, the main role of any nurse is similar to that of a health practitioner; to ensure positive outcomes in patients. With this said, it is impossible for any member of ARNP to prescribe medication to a patient with the intention of harming them. Sir, even Senator Denise Grimsley is of the opinions that nurses should be allowed to prescribe drugs with some restrictions as you can see in https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2016/0152. Kindly consider allowing ARNP’s to prescribe Suboxone to patients who need the medication.
