There are many methods that parents can assist their children with reading, according to the text. By providing a comfortable setting for the child to study in after school, parents can help their children by helping them pronounce some of the more challenging words they come across while working on their assignments. In order to improve the child’s listening skills, the parent can also recite a story to them and then quiz them on it. Fostering a culture of daily reading for your child and the rest of the family, particularly the parent, demonstrates a favorable view of reading to your developing child. Another approach is encouraging your child to read more books from the library and the internet thus potentially broadening the child’s knowledge, vocabulary and perspective of different things in society.
In mathematics, parents can ask the child to do word problems or answer questions that require counting, another way is by getting a picture from newspaper or article and have the child explain it to you. Additionally, through asking the child to share with you an interesting or favorite topic they learned in the math class can also assist in improving their mastering and mathematics skills. The study on common core standards and special education has changed my views about scholars with disabilities. I have learned that they are equal and most of them are sharp. Special care and incorporating them in various activities tends to prove their talents and abilities. Prior to my knowledge of scholars with disabilities, this topic has challenged my views on their capability and demonstrated that they do not require favors to accomplish their dreams. It is more evident that indeed physical disability is not inability. Parents who support their children with a disability tend to impact positively in their lives since they grow up with high self-confidence, self-esteem, self-determination and high goals thus competing favorably with other scholars.
