Successful people are those who establish and achieve goals in life. The objectives help them improve their areas of weakness and increase the level of professionalism of their job experience. Setting achievable objectives and completing them in a reasonable period of time increases motivation. As a result, the goals must be important and provide room for personal development for the individual setting them. A person is motivated to put forth a lot of effort in the direction of the complete realization of his or her dreams by goals that are particular to their area of passion. On achievement of the goals, it is important to reflect back and consider the challenges experienced since they build the stamina to face harder problems in future. Setting a goal requires a precise listing of the intended targets and the time necessary to avoid wasting too much time making the whole project unrealistic.
In school, my primary aim is to achieve my bachelor’s degree. I am privy of situations where students go to campus but fail to attain good grades and eventually drop out of college. Therefore, I understand that my goal has many challenges, but my desire to achieve academic success is stronger. In school, the first step I will take is forming study groups with my fellow students. In college, different people have varied ways of understanding units in class. A specific unit might be tough for one student but simple for the other (Juliani, 2015, p. 117). The study groups will present an opportunity for the students to combine their ideas in helping each other to tackle their areas of weakness. My first step towards the realization of my ultimate goal will be creating a platform for improving my grades and laying a firm academic background for my dream.
The goal I chose is in line with my passion. Academically, I have a desire for gaining knowledge and being in a position of understanding my environment and helping other people with lower academic achievements. Setting a goal that is in line with my passion will motivate me to sacrifice my time towards the completion of the goal. Secondly, I will limit the formation of the study groups to the first week after the commencement of the classes. The time aimed to ensure the study groups begin early enough before the accumulation of academic material. Setting the time will help me in measuring the progress made towards the ultimate goal and avoiding too much wastage of time on vices that do not contribute to the final desire. The discussions will occur after the afternoon classes to avoid any inconveniences for the members.
Apart from the formation of the study groups, I intend to write down the grades I plan to achieve in the first assessment test. As much as some of the ranks might appear unrealistic, I believe that I have enough zeal to complete the goals successfully. The goals will be challenging for me but achievable with enough dedication. After achieving the first hurdle, I will list another group of units and the grades I will be working towards achieving. Setting goals that are impossible to attain reduce the motivation of an individual and might affect the overall outcome of the targeted results (Schultz & Schultz, 2010, p. 188). Therefore, my goal will be in line with my passion for education, and the goals will be realistic and achievable as well as the path to the success will be in the form of the study groups. I will devote my time and energy towards the assessments to determine the overall direction of my goal.

Despite the vast benefit, only 3% of adults write their goals. Roughly, 14% of people in the society prefer creating the goals and planning them in mind without writing down. However, 83% of people do not have clear goals making it impossible for them to write them. It is advisable to write down the goals and refer to them frequently since they act as a source of motivation and a constant reminder making success possible.

As much as I had many options, attaining a degree would mark academic success for me, which would form a pillar for future works. More so, the degree would define my career path and dictate my journey towards professionalism. Therefore, I plan to use my time constructively and avoid wasting time on issues without any benefit in my academic life. For example, I intend to avert lousy company that might derail me from my goal or introduces me to drugs and substance abuse, which might waste my life and leads to complete failure of my goals. Therefore, my decision on my goal reflects the professional experience I aim at achieving and the importance of my academic life towards the successful profession. I will keep modifying my goals with the completion of every step to ensure the goals challenge me to better performance.
Goals are fundamental in the lives of human beings. Setting the goals motivate the people to work harder towards their success. However, the goals must be specific, in line with the overall goal as well as realistic to the concerned persons. In my part, I will write down the desired grades at every assessment to ensure I get my degree with the highest grades possible. I believe that the targets will be high. However, I know that I can succeed just as those in the industry succeeded.
