The metacognition review will help me to increase my awareness and comprehend my thinking as a cognitive process. I have evaluated my progress as I continue to study using metacognition, and anytime I have not done well, I have made many changes to allow me to adapt and improve on my deficiencies.
I conducted a personal self-evaluation, self-reflection, self-responsibility, initiative, goal planning, and time management. I identified enormous advances in my writing techniques through the utilization of many sources after such an investigation of my thinking and learning processes in writing skills within the field of political science. Currently, in my Third, I have come a long way regarding my writing skills which have improved a lot as I can write quality essays. I have advanced in my punctuations, analysis and even thesis development.
My punctuations had become better than when I was in my First year. At the beginning of the year, I made lots of grammatical errors which have reduced as I make a lot less writing errors. Additionally, my research thesis has improved since I can now make a brief, straightforward thesis statement unlike a few years back when I could hardly write a clear argument for any research work I was doing. As I continue to progress and analyze my development, I have realized through fellow students’ feedback that my writing skills and statements are becoming more creative and exciting than before.
Moreover, my analytical skills for an essay have also improved as I can determine themes, tones and main points as well as many other literary devices in an article. Over time, I have understood the significance of taking brief notes as a way of increasing my writing skills and speed and enhancing my ability to synthesize the central point from a given topic.
Metacognition consists of two parts which are known for cognition and monitoring of perception (Flavell 906-911), I have developed and improved on my thinking awareness regarding my thinking and personal conceptions of research contents. Additionally, I can actively monitor and regulate my cognitive processes that enhance my writing skills using devices. I can comfortably solve any research problems and any other general essays or assignments.
During my past two years, I have developed and improved in my critical thinking and creativity when writing essays or carrying out any research work. I can efficiently analyze arguments within a topic hence deriving the primary points or objectives, using both inductive and deductive reasoning to make inferences when doing a search as well as evaluating and making a decision to solve critical problems.
In writing an essay or carrying out an argumentative research, I have improved on how to consider the relationship between personal conceptions and the available literate evidence that might or might not support such understandings hence writing a quality work based on evidence. Such has been due to my improvement in the analysis of literature, skills that I have developed and improved over time.
In conclusion, my academic course, I have done a lot of examinations, continuous assessment tests and research most of which I have always received feedback. I have used such studies feedbacks and corrections as a tool to improve on my spellings, punctuations and correct grammar as a tool for enhancing my writing and research skills. Indeed, myself assessment and analysis of my learning and thinking process in writing skills using sources as writing have improved as enhancement of my Metacognitive development.
