Identify a situational challenge in your organization or one you are familiar with that necessitates adaptive leadership.
Wells Fargo came under fire from the media after questions over its credibility emerged as a result of executive wrongdoing. Any workers at the firm generated over 2.1 million false accounts in order to meet the company’s high revenue expectations set by management. Wells Fargo executives stuck their heads in the sand and refused to acknowledge the situation. And when the topic became public, the company’s CEO was too late to ask for an investigation.
Briefly describe the challenge and explain why it was chosen. The challenge was adaptive because it could be resolved through changes in Well Fargo’s way of doing things, ethical procedures, and current structures. Adaptive challenges can be resolved through changes in people’s loyalties, habits, belief, and people’s priorities (Boylan, 2016). Making progress in this organization could only be realized through authoritative leadership to generate a new culture that supports ethical practices.
Discuss Two Leadership Behaviors Are Pivotal
Leaders are problem solvers they do not sit back and wait for problems to go beyond proportion before finding solutions. Wells Fargo’s leadership failed to prevent the forgery scandal. In fact, they were the contributors by setting sales targets that were unattainable forcing employees to create fake accounts.
The vision of leaders inspires followers to work hard. The leaders who behave ethically will also inspire the follows to behave well, this was not a case in Wells Fargo Company because management harassed employees into creating fake accounts (Charteris-Black, 2007).
The Value of Adaptive Behavior in Addressing Challenges
Adaptive leaders tend to boost the morale of team members, maximize the productivity of its employs and adjusts the approach of nuances to an emerging situation. Adaptive leaders will always use the right leadership skills to attain the best results.
