Importance of the Statement : The More You Know the More You See

The phrase “The More You Know, the More You See” was coined by Aldous Huxley, a philosopher, writer, ethicist, and scientist. Huxley came up with the remark after losing his vision and embarking on a journey to understand how humans see. Huxley’s statement is significant since it is at the heart of the “visual Communication Circular Dancing theory of Perception.” The remark implies that in order for individuals to see properly, they must also think clearly. According to Huxley’s theory, sight and cognition cannot be separated (Lester, 2014). Through combining the three aspects, sensation, selection and perception, one is able to make sense of objects within thus, making Huxley’s formula simple but lucid.

The statement is important shows that once you have an understanding of different things you get to realize deeper aspects of those things, thus beyond what the human eye can see, since you will have a different perspective due to your high knowledge level. The statement is significant as it shows knowledge has great power to help people in understanding things which may at times appear complicated or hidden.

Personal Feeling about the Statement

I agree with the statement “The more you know, the more you see” by Huxley because through understanding something, you can notice something which other people are not able to see. Moreover, acquiring more knowledge about the world enables or rather teaches individuals to be better observers of things around them which, in, turn increases their capacity for not only knowledge but also wisdom. I consider the statement important as it also promotes awareness of one’s surroundings.
