For many of us, change is difficult simply because we occasionally experience start-up anxiety. It can also be referred to as the act of modification, which simply means to create or transform. In an organization, managing change is a crucial responsibility. Although temporal changes might happen quickly or despite having strong expectations. Evidently, difficulties can arise if there aren’t enough resources available to carry out the adjustment.
However, for a firm to succeed, the management may take into account using innovative and enhanced techniques to boost production. In order to offer potential recommendations, I would investigate and assess how the this problem and develop possible recommendations for increasing productivity.
In most of the cases division of labor is applied since it mainly means that the primary process of production may at times be divided into different parts and each part taken by different workers. In this case, different workers perform different tasks by their respective specialization. The division of labor in an organization helps in decreasing the workers level of absenteeism and even increases the productivity of the individual organization.
Therefore, since the management of a hospital and medical laboratory use, responsible for making plates assigned workers to assemble hotplates. It came to their attention that when the workers work together, their production levels were low and so was their morale. The management then decided to let the workers work individually. After a series of training, the workers were allowed to assemble the hotplates individually. Following the decision made by the management, their workers were able to increase their productivity levels. The main benefit of the division of labor is that it anchors immensely increasing the productivity of the workers. This fact can be well highlighted by the common example of pin-making given by Adam Smith (Hutchings et al., 1997)). Smith says that the pin-making process is separated into 18 independent operations where due to the division of labor ten workers can make 48000 pins in a day.
Increase in productivity in the management of the hospital is mainly caused by the worker’s skills and capabilities. Due to the new change enhanced by the management the workers are now able to effectively work without having to change to another process or even having to wait for their respective turn. Hence, this enhances the productivity of assembling hotplates (Pagano., 1991)).
Division of labor enhanced by the management hospital has been able to reduce the rates of absenteeism among the workers. The workers are now able to have the morale and excitement to work since they all have individual responsibilities. The rate of absenteeism has been reduced by the avoidance of monotony of work (Sabel.,2003). When the workers work together, they intend to do the same work using the same methods and techniques, but with them working individually this has created room for invention and innovation. This new change enhanced by the management has been able to reduce the cost of production in the hospitals and also improved the quality of hotplates assembled.
In general, the new developments enhanced by the management of the hospital and the medical laboratory have been very significant. The change was made at about the middle of the year, and the rate of productivity climbed quickly. Due to these, the workers responded positively to the change, and their respective morale was noticeably higher than usual. One person declared, “Now, this is my hotplate.” Implying that he or she enjoys having to work individually without any interference whatsoever.
