The majority of the earliest immigrants to North America were of British and European descent. Immigration is the international movement of people from their home country to a different location where they are not natives to live there permanently. Many people who emigrated to North America did so for a variety of causes. The earliest settlers in North America made their homes on the east shore before finding their way into the interior and mostly sparsely populated states. Most early immigrants came to North America for a variety of causes, most of which involved leaving their home countries. The British ware the very fast community to migrate to America in large numbers. One reason for migration was because of economic difficulties. In England economy was unstable, and there was a high rise of prices which led to poverty. The economic system in America was based on capitalism. This economic system was profitable and cheaper for them hence more immigrants continued to settle to North America. The other reason for people to migrate to the North America was for such of religious freedom. By this time England was facing religion conflict. The Englishmen Protestants and Catholics also ware strongly being enforced to follow the ways of the Anglican Church which had currently established in England. The non-followers of Anglican war rejected in the society as well as getting fines from the government and even jailed .in addition the religion warfare was in extreme level and people with different beliefs were killing each other.

The other wave of immigrants to the new world was based on obtaining profit from the new lands. The settlers wanted to start a new life and own land. Many people migrated to America to seek for economic opportunity and invest in the United States. The United States even in the ancient colonial rule was good regarding economic opportunities. The United States in the colonial period had many industries that were seen as the source of economy to the natives. The industrialization attracted many people to the country in search of greener economic environments. The industrialization created job opportunities hence the attracted immigrants to the country. This resulted in increasing in the number of immigrants from Asia, Europe and some parts of Africa.

The other factor that led to the immigration of people to America during the colonial era is the good trade field in the States. America had a large population that resulted in an increase in demand for commodities. The huge demand for commodities from the population led to the creation of a market for commodities enhancing trade. Trade is the exchange of goods and commodities between individuals. The big demand led to immigrants in the country to transact business activities. The United States acted as a link to other continents hence the creating a good environment for trading activities. The geographical location of the United States attracted trader from Asia and Europe to transact the commodities extracted from Africa. Barter trade was the main form of business that took place in the colonial times. Traders who moved to America from other countries settled in the United States to carry out trading activities.

`During the colonial period, the traders from Spain and Asia used to ship metals stones and fur all up the country from coast to coast. Most people in the North America from India, Asia, and Africa used to be farmers. In the 1500s and 1600s, the outbreak of measles and smallpox led to falling in trade. The outbreak also led to the movement of people to North America in search of a better area free from diseases. The Spain traders sailed to the North America searching for the thing that they would take back to Spain. The natives saw that the traders from Spain had some cool stuff for trade. The Spanish traders had bullets, gunpowder, and whiskey which attracted the Native Americans. In exchange the Spanish traders also gave horses. They used horses as their special weapon that helped them to hunt animals.

The outbreak of diseases and the Europeans killed many people such that there were many free lands in North America. As a result of many deaths a lot of land and villages that were abandoned. United States army also forced the people who remained in the farms to leave them and vacate to further West. The big land left free led to the migration of people from Europe to North America to carry out farming and live on it. The farm was large that the labor force provided by the immigrants from Europe was not enough to work on the farm. This forced the rich people to hire indentured servants to work in the farms. Other forced people from Africa and even hired them as slaves to work in the firms. The importation of African as slaves led to more immigrants in the North America as the provider of labor. As more immigrants were imported into the country, they occupied the abundant farms and villages.

The civil wars led to the immigration of people to the United States. As the whole group of people began working and living in the cities as a result of civil wars. Civil wars in the United States made the farm areas which were highly populated become inhabitable. Most of the people moved from the villages in the North America to cities. The people began working in the factories around the cities. The movement of people from the village to the cities led to more immigration of slaves from Africa to replace the ones who moved to the cities. The civil wars also led the people who vacated to the cities and began to build and work in the factories hence creating space of more immigrants to North America. Civil war is, therefore, another cause for immigration.

The failure of crops in the resulted in debt especially within the poor farmers hence they choose to cover up the debts by migrating to America where there was enough land for farming. The plentiful and enough land led to the migration of people to the country in search of land to carry out farming.

This drew Quakers from Norway and Germans Jews left their country’s to run away from religious harassment. The United States was seen as a place where individuals could easily carry out their religious rights. In the United States, there was freedom for worship hence creating an enabling peaceful environment to the religious individuals. This led to the movement of people from their countries to the United States. The Germans also migrated to the United States because the German revolution backfired. In America, there is an exercise of freedom which attracts more people into the country.
