A Successful Visual Commercial

A successful visual commercial is frequently imaginative, captivating, and leaves a lasting impression on the target audience. Additionally, it differs from the others in that it conveys a statement. One of the biggest issues facing the United States at the time is illegal immigration. Increased enforcement of immigration rules in the US has been the subject of heated debate. In order to halt this illegal immigration, President Trump promised to erect a wall at the Mexican border during his presidential campaign. The cartoon displayed a cross-border destination through an escape tunnel and a man going through was drawn. The source of the picture was from Daily Kos which was posted by Lalo Alcaraz. This picture was drawn on an account that was rumored to be owned by the cartel leader El Chapo Guzman who threatened Donald Trump after his harsh statements against Mexican immigrants while still a Republican presidential candidate. The targeted audience for this visual image is the Mexican immigrants and Donald Trump. This visual comes out as funny and friendly for the Democrats and pro-immigration supporters. The visual was created by Jose Maria Alger, a political cartoonist from Spain who brings awareness to people through his cartoons of political issues.

The Criteria in the Visual 1

The aim of the visual is to address the problem of building a wall. Trump was a solution to illegal immigration and also to make a stand that was against building that wall. It tries to make the people understand that the wall that was built will not solve the problem but only lead people to develop and find more creative ways to cross the border. Jose Maria Algar created this cartoon on November 15, 2016, as a way of sending a message to President Trump that even if he builds a wall, it will not stop illegal immigration. It is not the easiest or fastest solutions that usually work to solve a problem in the visual; a wall is being built at the boundary of Mexico and the United States. On the Mexican side of the wall stands the Mexican Prison while in the United States stands a building that has the name Trump headquarters 2016. The Trump office symbolizes that he is the one building the wall in between as he had sworn.

The Criteria in the Visual 2

A man who symbolizes the Mexican drug lord El Chapo Guzman is seen digging a tunnel from the Mexican Prison thus making his way into the United States. El Chapo digging the tunnel towards the United States tries to pass a message to Trump that he can get to America and make his threats of assassinating him. The irony of the wall that Trump built is that it still will not stop the illegal immigrations. People will still find a way to get there just as El Chapo used the tunnel to break out of prison. Illegal immigrants might take advantage of that idea. My stand is against building this wall, and I agree with the position of the visual cartoon because the El Chapo Prison tunnel was to raise the awareness. Another reason that makes me be against the wall is that building the wall all rounds will be costly, and the taxpayers will have to bear the cost indirectly. The cost of materials to the expense of the workforce needed will also be too expensive.

The Criteria in the Visual 3

Some words that were used in the visual were not necessary because in the image it reflects the flags on each side. The flags are from both countries, so it is easy to understand without the inclusion of Mexican Prison and Trump HQ. The main points of the images are that it will not make a difference no matter the number of radical anti-immigration policies he develops. The number of illegal immigrants, in this case, will not go down. The visual is against all the immigration policies that Trump has developed. He believes it will reduce the movement, if not legally stopping immigration into America. The picture is very useful in passing its message as the faces used of El Chapo, and Trump is well known and recognized by people. The visual is a comic which makes it attractive to target the audience. The humor of it is that a wall is being built to keep people out, but they have already found a way through a tunnel. It is fascinating as to how both sides strongly support their parties and that no matter what the other hand tries, they will still do what they can to go against the opposition. The positions of both parties are very clear that none of them is about to back down; Trump erected a wall as he promised to keep them out while the immigrants found another solution to the wall as they promised it would not stop them. Both sides are exercising their power as they go against each other. The visual images are so convincing in passing its message that the wall is not the solution neither are the words used which were not needed. The pictures alone do all the voicing of what is required to be learned from them.

Conclusion

The building of the wall will never be a solution to the rising illegal immigration. However, it will only delay it as people will develop other ways of entering America without being detected. For instance, the digging of the tunnel could as well be a solution for the immigrants once the wall is erected. The radical anti-immigration policies developed as well. The policy would not do much in stopping immigration there because of many illegal immigrants still in the United States. America has always stood to be an exception while other great countries declined because they built walls of prejudice. If at all America goes with this idea of building up a wall to stop illegal immigration, it might descend into isolation, and this wall will be a false sense of security. It will neither stop illegal immigration or terrorism from going on. Being hostile to these immigrants as much as they come into the country illegally is not the way to go. Many of the immigrants go into the country looking for jobs and a better life. As much as illegal immigration poses a threat to the security of the United States, building a wall to stop it will only hurt the economy as it will be costly. The immigrants, however, boosted the economy. Immigration also has that benefits since the immigrants also help to develop a country.
