Identification and Classification of Information Assets

285 views 2 pages ~ 321 words Print

The most relevant question in the list for assisting in the identification and classification of information assets is: which information asset is most critical to the organization’s success? The reasoning behind this is based on the idea that an analysis of an information asset considered critical to the success of an institution will include a discussion of the asset’s negative and positive impacts, as well as how it has improved the company’s operations (Sánchez-Segura, Ruiz-Robles, & Medina-Dominguez, 2016).The analysis will also entail the primary reasons as to why the asset has been chosen over others, as well as naming of other information assets that can be used by the researcher in carrying out the process of identification and classification. The discussion of the question must also entail justified answers as to why the asset is being considered most critical, which will assist in proving that it will be ranked the first or among the top in the list of the most critical information assets that can be adopted by company managers in the global market (Redlich & Nemzow, 2010).

The information asset that would be the most embarrassing or cause the greatest liability if revealed is: which information asset generates the most revenue. The reason is based on the fact that revealing the information asset may lead to other competing organizations adopting the strategy being applied by the institution, and this might create a threat to the various operations being undertaken by the company (Peltier, 2016). It is, therefore, essential to realize that an individual who reveals the information may be forced to face the law or be sued by the company managers.
