The fact that not all senior executives in organizations, such as Chief Executive Officers (C.E.O), are wise coaches and some of them are deeply troubled in various ways. The career paths of C.E.Os differ widely and contradict the stereotype that C.E.Os are normally the highest-earning students since some C.E.Os had poor grades and took classes such as theatre, music, and teaching (Bryant). Any of the topics concerning CEOs include the need to learn more through continual questioning and learning from interactions. Also, the C.E.O’s tend to like challenges and always focus on doing their jobs well, thus earning their promotions.
As James Hackett, the CEO of Ford Company puts it “If you want to lead others, you’ve got to have their trust, and you can’t have their trust without integrity” (Bryant). Organization values are essential and need reinforcement to be effective like through awarding the employees who exercise the values. Women, unlike men, face difficulty while trying to acquire top jobs but, the leadership remains the same regardless of the gender differences as the objectives of the leaders are the same.
Some of the points that can work and be beneficial are such as asking questions that are different from the conventional hiring and interview questions as it separates creative candidates and innovative candidates from the rest. This ensures that all the recruits to the organization are competent to perform their duties successfully. Another positive aspect that can work is the loving of challenge as any job industry is prone to have challenges and when challenges are overcome, one becomes powerful (Bryant).
Some of the points that may not work are such as questioning the employees through pop quizzes about the values of the company. At the time of the pop quiz, the employees would have had made more productivity than being asked value questions, and it may be time-consuming for organizations with hundreds of employees.
Grade levels in academics do not define the C.E.O or other leaders as there many leaders who had low grades but are very successful leaders of well-known organizations across the world (Bryant). Another valuable aspect is that followers are only as good as their leaders as the quality of followers is directly related to the trust you have for them; therefore, trust and integrity are essential for leadership success.
