Hiring the best candidate for a position is critical because it decides the company’s performance. Choosing the wrong individual is expensive to the corporation and can result in the company’s demise. The interviewing process is critical because it allows one to decide if an applicant is capable of performing the requisite tasks. As a result, the questions posed during the interview should be capable of eliciting the core competencies of the individual being questioned. Among the questions Betsy should have asked during the interview is whether Bob Jenkins would need to make any changes in order to fulfill the necessary tasks. Whether he is able to perform the job he is applying for with or without accommodations. If bob will be able to follow on the attendance policy of the company. Betsy should also have asked bob Jenkins whether he will be able to carry out his duties within the required amount of time. The legal considerations that exist include making sure that the workplace is usable for the disabled person. Ensuring that descrimation does not occur to the disabled person while working and compensation incase bob suffers an injury while working.
Betsy did not carry out the interview well. She did not ask a lot of questions to bob in order to know whether bob was qualified for the job or not. She also seemed to be in a hurry to get a new replacement which seemed to have clouded her judgement.
Betsy should have reviewed the resumes of the applicants, carry out a written examination for those who seem to have qualified, after the examination those who pass need to be able to perform a skill test then finally interview those who have passed the whole process and choose the best candidate.
Part 2
Betsy has a problem. This is because it’s bob first job as a key puncher and he is not doing so well. Bob is also very slow even for a person in his first day and this will result to problems because Betsy’s unit has a very demanding production schedule.
Betsy coaching and evaluation was great. Betsy gave bob her usual orientation that she does to all the workers. She even came to check on bob to access how he was handling the job.
Part 3
Betsy should tell bob that he should be very careful with his colostomy bag and should ensure that such a situation does not occur again. She should also ask bob if there is anything that the company can do help her so as to avoid such an incident, for example any accommodations that the company can make.
Betsy should advice the other co-workers to understand that what happened was an accident and bob did not mean to cause it. They should therefore not treat bob in a disrespectful manner and should find ways of helping bob so that such a scenario cannot repeat itself. With Sharon, Betsy should be able to make her understand that what happened was an accident. In case of a similar incident firing bob should not be an option instead they should find a way on how to help him instead.
Incase bob is terminated because of rapturing another bag there will be a legal problem. This is because it is an accident and he should not be fired because of it.
