The most crucial part of health care is evidence-based practice. Evidence-based practice, in this context, refers to the problem-solving strategy used in clinical decision making in a health care organization (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2011). It is used to improve and boost the effectiveness of healthcare. The practice include education application and adoption, as well as curriculum realignment. To provide evidence-based treatment, evidence-based practice blends the best available scientific evidence with the best available patient evidence. As a result, the value of employing evidence-based practice cannot be overstated because it assists a health care organization in improving patient outcomes. I work in a progressive care unit whereby we monitor patients closely and offer extra nursing care. In the PCU, we are guided by our commitment to nursing excellence and healthcare leadership which enables us to provide evidence based care to patients. In the progressive care unit, we are committed to quality outcomes (Bick, Graham & Sigma Theta Tau International, 2010). In this regard, we encourage a positive environment through evidence based practice and advancement in education research to improve the quality of care to our patient. Through the use of the evidence based practice, as nurses in the progressive care unit, it enables us to address health care related questions with a qualitative and evaluative approach (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2011). Through the use of the evidence based practice, various gaps in patient care are covered for better outcome. Also, since it takes into account patient value, it promotes patient experience while in the progressive care unit. Further, the evidence based practice offers systematic approach in treatment with over 95% certainty in improved chances of success. Above all, evidence based practice leads to decreased health care costs and reduction in complications associated with various clinical specialities.
