Today’s world requires people with common believes, a united people and living harmoniously in the society with mutual support. The traditional stories could show us how people of the same beliefs, attitudes, and focus lived together, and the structure of the community included leaders who keep everything in order. The family was the main source of peace at the elders harmoniously headed the events. However, people with different beliefs and values could also differ significantly which resulted in the struggle for independence among the majority of countries across the globe. The colonies did not consider the mission and values of the colonized. The issues of the difference between the Americans, Asians and African-American people were rampant since some the established differences or social factors would define their separation. Slavery was at the highest level with the African-American being the great victims in most of the American states such as California. Racism was and is currently worse for some people who do not appreciate the value and the worthiness of others. We have created to co-exist, and the creator sent Jesus here on Earth not to save only one species of people but all of us regardless of the color. If all of us will or would have integrated efficiently their personal beliefs including their vision, mission, and the worldview, the world would have been a better place. The global issues such as sustainable development and climate change, peace and conflicts, health issues, transnational organized crimes, the status of women, rich-poor gap, education and learning and population and resources can be effectively addressed with a united belief (The millennium project). This essay aims at presenting a clear picture of how I plan to integrate my beliefs with how I live in light of vocation/calling and the global issues. This will involve the application of my essential beliefs in openness to different cultures with no judgment through the other people’s looks which impacts the society with fewer problems now and the future.

A community of learners

A community of learners refers to a group of people gathered together to study a common theme of the subject.  It entails an environment of learners working harmoniously together with common goals and focus. Being part of this crucial group defines the real nature of myself, living and working with a team from different beliefs, cultural values but focused on a common goal. Throughout my life since high school to colleges, I have been studying with people from different backgrounds who have different perspectives about life and unique attitudes towards each other. I have been able to do groups assignments, discussions with significant outcomes than I would have been when I was to work alone. As part of this great team of leaners, I have been able to understand and appreciate the greatness and capabilities of each other. I have the privilege to work with people from many different parts of the world. Additionally, I believe that it is essential to be open to better understand different cultures and beliefs. Because of my openness, I feel that I have learned not only much about other cultures from my co-workers of different cultures, but I also am much better equipped when I travel to other areas of the world and am exposed to other cultures.

The most influential people to my life includes my parents and some leaders and business owners such as Bill Gates and UN secretary general Antonio Guterres. My parent has significantly modeled me to the stage I am today. With well-established Christian values in the family, my parents educated us on how to live and co-exist with each other. These values include unity, not to judge anyone, learn to appreciate others and create a friendship with anyone provided he or she do not have evil intentions or teach us bad morals. My parents are very strict about any mistakes we do against our friends. My father even used to encourage me inviting friends and study together.

Additionally, Bill Gates who is the founder of Microsoft has greatly impacted the society in many aspects of life. The Bill and Melinda Foundation has been dedicated to helping communities and changes the world for a better place. Even the theme on their website “All values have equal value; we are impatient optimists working to reduce inequity,” greatly communicates their values to a community of learners who are focused to have a united world with sustainable growth and well-being (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation). Being educated and having potential skills to influence the world and utilize them for the bitterness of the community is the common characteristic of a community of learners and that is why I copy the Bill and Melinda focus on building a better society. Lastly, Antonio Guterres’s five years in office as the secretary general were influential to the society where he majorly focused in addressing global issues such as prevention of diseases, peace, reformation, strengthening of the development system, modernization of UN actors for the achievement of sustainable development goals (Brown). This is excellent teaching to my life, and my social values learned in the public relations course. My plan to contributing to the community of learners involve working closely with people from any race to address societal issues and encourage everyone in the society to avoid discrimination and collaborate to work together for a transformed society.

Lifelong involvement in the study and application of liberal world arts/worldview

Throughout my period of study at South Asian University, for my bachelor’s degree in international and public relations, I have been well shaped up with numerous technical and regular skills.  This has greatly changed my perspective of viewing the world at significant encompassing people from different backgrounds, cultural beliefs, and religious backgrounds. I have learned to appreciate every person I encounter with, in my life and treat him like myself for a better society. The interaction with people from India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Pakistan has helped me gain a wider knowledge about these people. For instance, the people originating from Afghanistan are believed to be violent due to the regular fights engaged by the people in their regions. However, after we have shared classes, common course and involved in numerous activities within the University has changed my mind and avoid stereotyping or discrimination against them. In fact among the friends I have interacted with are very friendly and are devoted towards resolving the long-lasted conflicts. It’s the wish of most of this intellectuals to have a better society where everyone is protected and treated fairly. Therefore, the public perception of these great colleagues that they are not friendly is a total confliction to my current beliefs since the educated instilled in me has changed my logical and critical thinking.

Moreover, the Department of International Relations has missions mainly focused on the global well-being.  For instance, the plan is underway for making international relations less ethnocentric characters but make it more inclusive. This will involve using contextual and interdisciplinary approaches which are specifically educating empirics and theories of being attentive to global lineages and put South Asian practice and ideas in entire Asia and the globe at large. The study of peace and conflict resolutions, as well as the world politics, has imparted vital knowledge in handling societal matters back in the society and my country. With the vision and mission of making public and international relations a more advanced field with wide area skills applicable in the community and especially providing teachings which are focused in solving the current global challenges, I plan to advance my education levels to masters and even to Ph.D. level. This is my strategic plan towards not only learning international relations within Asia but also to other continents such as Africa, North and South America, Europe and Australia. This will equip me with skills that are applicable in different cultural grounds. This knowledge will also be applied in most of the liberal arts such as philosophy, social science, and physical sciences to deduce critical conclusions for critical problem-solving. Also, I can be able to work as a mediator for my country and the broader international society thus impacting the community from a broad perspective.

Jesus Christ as my perspective for learning

Jesus Christ is my savior. The manifestations of Jesus Christ in my lifespan right from the moment I was born up to the current and maybe to the following stages ahead. Sometimes it can be hard for me to define Jesus as he has much helped me throughout all my breakthroughs in life. My spiritual journey started in the early stages when my parents were taking us to church, and I was baptized at the age of three years. My mother used to teach us about who Jesus is and the history of God’s creation, human fall and the plan for the redemption of humankind. We were informed about the types of things which offends God and Jesus. As children, we could ask who Jesus is since he was not visible. However, the imagery representations which were unique served as a setting for starting to understand Jesus. Throughout my basic level studies, I encountered different friends with different perspectives of life and different religious backgrounds. My high school and college level successes, I attribute them to the Miracles of Jesus Christ since I dedicated most of my time studying about him, but he never failed me.

One of the major incidences that Jesus showed his strength on me is when he protected my family against death where Al-Qaeda groups attacked our community, and a large population was killed. We were hiding in one of the rooms of the house, deadly silent and hopeless as we saw the terrorist groups going to attack us anytime. The terrorists would have used bomb and grenades to thorn down the house, but they did not. Our hiding place was not the most secure place as they can break in and find us. But by the grace of God, they passed by and ran away following police counter-attack. Throughout the entire period, I prayed silently asking Jesus to save our blood, and indeed he saved us.

These incidences taught me lessons which are uneasy to forget. Firstly, the loss of life associated war among nations and exploitation across the world is a major factor drawing back social and economic developments. The regular war among nations such as Israel and Palestine exposes most children and the vulnerable communities in danger sometimes causing death (Biton, and Gavriel, 167), refugee crisis which are the major contributors to the stagnated achievement of sustainable development goals. The world would not be a better place unless these challenges are carefully addressed. Also, our powers and knowledge are not enough but also with the prayer for Jesus’ intervention and knowledge to guide us in handling such cases. My plan of nurturing spiritual development will involve several strategic plans. Firstly, I must lead by an example showing Jesus’s characteristics; this is the first step for people to learn the ways of Jesus Christ. Secondly, I will engage with bible distributors such as King James where I can obtain enough bibles to provide every member of the community. Thirdly, I will advocate for freedom of worship among the communities where people are limited to access church services and support church missions to enable preachers many rich people for spiritual nourishment.

Critical participation in the contemporary world

Three fundamental entities shape the deepest meaning of life to me, which include; my freedom, my spiritual growth and opportunity to serve others in improving human life. These three entities have continuously driven me towards sustainable development and enrichment is religious matters. I have been seriously and actively engaged myself in spiritual activities such as following church teachings and the bible including favorite Television channel, hosted by Pr. Joel Osteen. This defines the purpose of life, my capabilities, my roles in this world and the importance of living a positive experience. The daily struggles, trials, and tribulations cannot be easily overcome by an easily swayed Christian but with the regular empowerment of spiritual nourishment keeps me positive to life matters and believe that the existing solutions to each problem which helps me motivate others to never lose hope in life. Moreover, there is nothing interesting like having a freedom of choice, expression, worship and do anything as per your wish. This is the most exciting part of my life which I most treasure. The ability to create, disseminate and promote knowledge as well as participating in most events in the contemporary world offers me a chance of showing my potential as well as impacting the community. I would want to have a life which we are allowed to mingle with any person freely and share knowledge as well as share the happiness of the grace of Jesus Christ. These two elements are connected to each other because of the commonness of requiring to live a life without limitations. Global issues cannot be addressed by one specific individual or a certain group of people. We are born with different capabilities and coming together, share the different skills, numerous results will be witnessed.  The world needs to be united, and the public was given a chance to improve their life.

Currently, I am involved in improving life in the contemporary world through many ways. Firstly, I devoted myself to donate little amounts to charity groups which are dedicated to improving life through poverty and disease alleviations. Secondly, I serve as a leader in one of the groups in the church which entails nurturing children for spiritual growth and emphasizing on the importance of working with a community of learners without judgment of color, culture or origin. My plans for integrating critical participation with my vocation entails some key approaches which are targeting the society and more so the youths who are the next generation of tomorrow in the world. Firstly, I will create a blog which presents articles on the strategies of ending most of the world challenges. Others will include issues like travel the world and critical approaches that can be adopted for achieving strategic goals. The reason for choosing a blog is specifically meant to reach people beyond South Asia. Proper keyword utilization and improved search engine optimization will ensure that most people are looking for the relevant content land at my blog as indicated by Cui and Songyun (2011). Secondly, I will encourage most religious gatherings to educate people about peace and the value of living in a society with enough freedom.

Conclusion

The world has been and is currently facing numerous challenges such as diseases, conflicts, and poverty which is affecting the society directly. Through strategic participation in a community of learners and application of the lifelong teachings gathered from SAU, the society can be a better place. Collaboration and acceptance of other people from different backgrounds is the start of a new down to achieving sustainable development. My role models in my calling share some similarities with some world organizations hence they encourage my vision for learning further to address the significant challenges the society face today. Christianity through Jesus Christ, freedom and mutual support can play a significant role in improving the world. Thus, perhaps if we all could look at others without any judgment and support one another, there would be fewer problems that we face today and in the future.
