Administration and Leadership: Understanding the Distinction

There is always the issue that the notions of administration and leadership frequently overlap practically; yet, the two phrases are extremely distinct. Management is a method that applies when it comes to achieving an organization’s goals and objectives. On the other side, leadership refers to, among other things, management activities, progression, proficiency, and meaning, a position of influence, an attribute, capability, and compelling association. Both management and leadership include power, dealing with persons, and working together to reach shared goals; nevertheless, leadership is a multi-directional persuasion connection, whilst management is a one-directional authority relationship (Algahtani, 2014).

Management and Leadership in Establishing Organizational Visions

When it comes to the establishment of the organizational visions, the management mainly deals with the planning and budgeting, the development of the process steps, and the setting of timelines. Furthermore, the management exhibits the uncongenial mindset that regards the visions and goals of a company. On the other hand, the leadership lays down the way and develops the organization’s vision, develops the strategic plans and also the achievement of the firm’s visions. Additionally, leadership demonstrates very zealous outlook as regards the dream and objectives of the institution (Bohoris, n.d).

Additional Differences: Management vs Leadership

Another difference between management and leadership is that the latter involves caring for the others’ burdens and working towards the improvement of their lives while the former is only about supervising the individuals without necessarily assisting in the betterment of their lives. Additionally, the concern of the management is to do things the right way as stipulated by the law whether bad or good while the apprehension of leadership is doing only the right things and avoiding the wrong ones (Kibort, 2004). Leadership is more intuitive and prejudiced while management is mostly objective and its practice is in real-time.
