Diabetes and retention of blood sugar

Diabetes is a metabolic disease that occurs in individuals with a high level of blood sugar. The increased blood sugar is as a result of either insufficient insulin production or the body cells not respond properly to insulin. In many cases, both situations can occur at the same time. Regarding this article, “Diabetes: Symptoms, Causes, And Treatments”, there exist three types. Namely: Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes. A quick breakdown; Type 1 occurs due to deficiency in insulin production. Type 2 results from inadequate insulin production. More so, gestational diabetes occurs in women at pregnancy. The regular symptoms of diabetes include extreme taste, incessant urination , unusual weight fluctuations, and delayed healing mechanisms. Type 1 diabetes is easier to manage through healthy diet, exercising, and insulin-taking. The same would apply to type 2 diabetes. Gestational diabetes occurs when pregnant woman has high levels of blood sugar, yet her body is unable to produce sufficient insulin for transporting available glucose into body cells, which culminates into glucose levels’ rise. To diagnose diabetes, A1C test, fasting plasma glucose (FPG) test, or oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) are applied. Patient is advised on treatment mode depending on type of diabetes diagnosed. Poorly regulated blood sugar has been attributed to heart problems, feet complications, hypertension, and stroke among others. The article is very informative on every diabetes aspect. Explanations are easy to understand even for a layman without medical knowledge. However, information is jumbled, because after discussion of different diabetes types and symptoms, it goes to explaining what diabetes is and how to diagnose it – it should have been mentioned initially.
