The Concept of Data Warehouse

Most businesses use a large volume of data as a result of technological advancements and improvements in market modes of operation from analog to digital. As a result, an accurate understanding of the concept of data is needed. A data warehouse, as opposed to an actual structure where items are stored, is the collection and organization of a large volume of data both within and outside of an organization. As a result, it provides a channel for understanding the current operational situation and determining the appropriate steps to be taken if any adjustments are made. The availability of a data warehouse makes the leadership decision-making process less cumbersome and snappy, (Moye, & Dave, 2001).

Data Marts: An Archive of Continuous Data

Data marts, on the other hand, can be referred to as an archive where data are stored and continuously added. In the cases of data marts, missing information are entered to ensure that the information is up to date as well as ensuring that such information improves with age. The primary distinguishing feature of data mart is the fact that is not admissible form a legal perspective, (Data marts 2001).

The Benefits of Data Marts and Data Warehouse

One of the primary benefits of data marts and data warehouse is the fact that they help organizations to acquire the needed data required for making right decisions. Therefore to achieve this, organizations must decide the specific data required which could be customer related issues or addressing decline sales. The next step is the determination of the most effective method by which the required information will be gotten. The requisition of this data could be achieved via the provision feedback column on the company’s website, and the data generated from such feedbacks will serve as a basis for analysis and implementation of the right course of action in a bit to correct the problem being faced by the organization.
