CONSIDER THE LESSONS, SEMINARS, AND DESIGN STUDIO

This course has given me both academic and practical geographic understanding. It was possible to comprehend architectural concepts like symmetry and eurythmy thanks to the introduction. I also gained a deeper knowledge of the role that art plays in society as a whole as a catalyst for social, technological, and developmental advancements. I have been exposed to a variety of architectural styles from the Indian and Asian subcontinents as well as Meso-American styles during the course. The course also examines Chinese architectural styles and their fondness for circular and erratic patterns in their gardens. The excursions to London gave visitors a broad perspective of the city’s spectacular architectural creations. Most were characterized by increased use of glass, external pipes and massive columns.

The importance of geometry in designing buildings was also explained in great detail. I have come to learn that safety should be taken into account during initial designs. At the same time, landscaping should also receive particular emphasis as well. This course also provided an outlook on renaissance designs, evident in Spain, France, England and London. I also came to understand the chief difference between engineering and architectures. While the architecture designs a building within set budgets, the engineer’s work is to ensure that these designs are realized while taking costs into consideration.

Besides this theoretical knowledge, the course included a design studio that has equipped me with a practical understanding of architectural designs. The design studio introduced me to basic design, in which I took part in designing small and medium projects. I used glasses in most of these projects, as I like how they look on buildings and also because they provide natural light. I also learned landscape design in both urban and natural typographies. The design studio played an important role in enabling me to understand the unity that exists between a buildings environment, function, and structure.
