Corporate social responsibility has evolved into an important practice for many businesses over the years. While these may appear as small perks, they go a long way in boosting the morale of the employees. This rigorous analytical approach to morale has also been used to update the parental leave policy of the company. As a result, working mothers receive a 50% reduction in attrition (Fortune). The company also arranges town halls for employees drawn from minority communities i.e. African American and transgender to promote an unbiased, safe and inclusive pool of high performers (Fortune).
In comparison, Google has demonstrated CSR proficiency similar to the criteria used by Fortune by investing in both the professional and personal lives and also creating a conducive environment that nurtures employee relationships. The diversity programs that Google has put in place are similar to those that Fortune is interested in evaluating. In contrast, the quality of leaders when it comes to CSR remains unascertained.
Employees at KPMG lauded the company for the initiative it has put in place to train and develop its staff (Fortune). The financial and auditing industry is very dynamic therefore professionals in the industry have to remain abreast with the emerging knowledge. While this may be in line with Fortune’s criterion of improving the professional life of the employee, KPMG performs poorly in other variables. From the Fortune study, little can be established about the efforts that KPMG has made to improve the personal lives of its employees, the quality of its leaders and the relationships that exist among its employees (Fortune).
CHG Healthcare Services is quickly becoming a force to reckon with in the American healthcare industry. This has been facilitated by its satisfied employees. In conclusion, while corporate social responsibility goes beyond employees by ensuring the need of every stakeholder have been met and surpassed, the level of satisfaction by employees remains a suitable factor for analyzing the CSR of a company.
