It is essential and effective for all parties involved in the communication process to communicate. The process of interactive announcement involves using both verbal and nonverbal cues to convey a person’s conversational evidence, approaches, and connotations. Statements also cover the communication between the sender and the receiver. The plans by which information is transferred, on the other hand, are communication strategies. Either non-verbal or verbal communication is used to carry it out. Every conversation requires that you respect each person’s viewpoint and treat them as necessary to enhance your communication plan. Additionally, the paper will also discuss several instances of miscommunication and the causes of miscommunication in this context with the mitigation measures to avoid issues of miscommunication.
The responsibility for one’s behavior is a basic principle of communication. When one gets to be responsible for his or her behaviors he gets to respect the actions of other people. Moreover, being responsible for the behaviors ensures that people get to fulfill their words to the employees in the organizations or even to individuals (McCroskey et al. 2015). One should never blame the second party for his actions. It is through this process that most people get to reach their ultimate goals. Every individual has the mandate of practicing good communication skills to ensure that they are competent communicators. No one can acquire the communication skills without ample strategies of training to attain and achieve the desired level of competency.
In my workplace, there are several cases of miscommunication about job duties. One day the head of human resource management assigned a task to a group of people. Nevertheless, the team was unsure of who was responsible for the execution of the task. Some of the members assumed to have known what was expected out of them and decided to proceed with the work without informing the whole team. However, after investigation, the scenario was recorded as a miscommunication resulting from lack of job clarification. The managers need to come with better communication strategies of executing comprehensive instructions (Bevan and Sole, 2014). Moreover, the above miscommunication could have resulted from a lack of well-developed communication skills and principles to guide task allocation and division of the job among the given group of people. It is important for the managers to follow up on the task progress. The manager need ensure the team is doing the job and sort out any challenges that may arise from the execution of the job. Moreover, it was essential for the team to have a leader to support and control the progress of the job.
Lack of well-developed communication interrupted the process of successful communication. The employees did not get to understand the steps they are supposed to follow about communication strategies to enable them attain the desired results out of given task (McCroskey et al. 2015). Furthermore, the team members did not understand that they were supported to communicate amongst themselves to ensure smooth working of the duties involved in the work. However, the organization can overcome such challenges through establishing a communication strategy for the organization and sensitize the employees the importance of adhering to the set communication strategies.
In conclusion, it is evident that principles of interpersonal communication help in dealing with problems of miscommunication in an organization. It improves the success and quality of jobs dome in the organization. In so doing the shareholders and the employees gains more trust towards working with such organizations. Therefore, managers should work towards ensuring that they have and understand the basic principles of communication and ways of implementing them.
