APEX, NORTH CAROLINA (October 6, 2017) – A fire broke out at our Apex, North Carolina plant on Thursday, October 5th at approximately 10:00 p.m. Fortunately, no one was wounded because no one was on the premises at the time. Because the business contains a range of materials, the specific cause of the incident is unknown until a full investigation is completed. We would wish to dispel reports that the facility was storing dangerous chlorine gas and that the fire spread to nearby firms. As a matter of fact, special industrial firefighters hired by EQ were able to control the spread and eventually put out the fire before it spread to our neighbors.
The residents who live in close proximity to our facility were evacuated as a safety measure and are expected to return back to their homes with the permission of the authority. Regrettably, there were several dozens of people who were admitted to the local hospital with respiratory-related complaints, most of them have received treatment and were discharged. A number of emergency responders were also treated and released.
Several tests have been conducted by the North Carolina State Department of Environment and Natural Resources on the quality of our air, up to until this press release they have not detected any toxic substance or fumes.
As a company, we would like to applaud the police, firefighters and all the other first responders for their timely response and risking their lives to save others and properties. In case of any inquiries kindly reach out to us through our toll – free hotline number (1-202-654-8888).
