Americans use the internet for a variety of purposes, including connecting with clients, socializing, studying, and receiving other services such as health care, among others. The article “American Internet Access” is relevant to the Communication and mobilization course because it shows how individuals utilize the internet to exchange thoughts and ideas regardless of their distance from one another. Individuals can use the web to obtain various services such as news, while others can upload information. The benefit of using the internet is that no license is required. The internet has altered the media consumption habits and lifestyles of millions of people. According to the article, several factors such as age, class difference, community differences, and age among others (Perrin, 2015).

Internet as a Communication Tool

Many people are not only relying on it for communication but also using it as a source of information and entertainment. Sharing of photos, images, and videos is possible through the internet enabling communication of vital ideas and sharing of personal issues. Social sites such as Facebook and Twitter have brought people closer to one another regardless of geographical separation. It can be considered an excellent way of storing, processing, and retrieving information and messages facilitating continuous communication to take place. Americans rely on the internet use to outsource and mobilize workers and allow telecommuting facilitating people to work from their homes. People who have attained college education and above tend to use the internet more compared to high school graduates and below (Perrin, 2015). Those that earn more income also have recorded a greater internet usage than those that earn less income. Therefore, the article has a connection with the course since it highlights communication tools in the modern world such as the internet.
