Healthcare management is a key field that necessitates the presence of personnel with core competencies. In many businesses, the quality and capacity of leadership impact employee morale, stakeholder relationships, and performance (Bouaine, Charfeddine, Arouri, & Teulon, 2015). To achieve positive outcomes at all times, the healthcare sector requires all-around leaders that understand the changing dynamics of the industry. In this sense, the leader must have ACHE competences in five essential areas: communication and relationship management, leadership professionalism, business skills and knowledge, and healthcare environment understanding (HLA, & ACHE, 2016). Effective leadership abilities and the development of skills and expertise in the healthcare industry leads to better leadership and positive patient outcomes. Leaders in the healthcare sector ought to communicate clearly and manage relationships. These skills help the leader to establish and maintain effective relationships, facilitate meaningful interactions, and negotiate on behalf of the facility. In this regard, strategic leadership and management are critical elements in healthcare management because they increase the quality of care and boost relationships between the stakeholders (Budak, & Kar, 2014). Leaders ought to inspire the individual and the organization to ensure excellence, create a vision, and manage change to achieve the set objectives.

The leader ought to demonstrate professionalism by aligning personal and organizational conduct with professional and ethical standards. He or she should be privy to the needs and expectations of the patient and the community and commit to continuous learning and improvement. There is the need to have detailed knowledge of the healthcare environment and keep abreast with changes that manifest. Lastly, the leader should apply business skills and knowledge in the management of the healthcare facility. In essence, the leader ought to have the above competencies but remain flexible because of the changing nature of health care provider and patient expectations. The objective should be to create an environment that fosters employee commitment and growth while guaranteeing positive intervention outcomes and patient experience.
