I read this article about the gender-fluid generation with great curiosity. This is the point at which the younger generation struggles to determine their gender identity. The majority of young people in this situation identify as more than one gender, are transitioning between sexes, or have neither gender and cannot be identified by others. As a result of the fact that people differ everywhere, I wholeheartedly concur with the article. They ought to be treated similarly as a result. There shouldn’t be any discrimination based on gender identification. As a result, those who struggle with gender identification will be free to explore their identities in society. The article has enabled me to understand how young people within the community identify themselves and their genders. For example, others who are masculine will feel more comfortable when they are in the female body and vice versa. Others will feel comfortable in both gender identities like Asturias.
Additionally, since the society describes gender as one being male or a female and they cannot see one having both feeling identity, they usually shun such people and make them feel unwanted. This has enabled such people to fear and have issues of discovering themselves. To help such people in the society, we need to support the label they place on themselves so as to understand them better. For example how Parker Dell was supported by his wife and gave him the courage of being who he is in the house. Therefore, people should respect others because non-binary is still felt and lives among us ever since. It is just that this day, a label has been placed on it (Senti, 2015).
My Response to the Reactions of Two Other Students about the Article
Furthermore, I also agree with this post that the article shows us, that issues like gender binary, gender fluid, and also transgender people exist around the world. This is because, by reading the opinion and the cases of how other expresses themselves, one will be able to see that they exist. Long before the issues were there but people were afraid to show or express themselves. Henceforth, no one knew it existed but this day more articles such as this and numerous researches have enabled us to know that it does exist. I also believe that the people who expressed their feelings in this article took the first step of showing who they are. This is where they can express what they feel without being judged because no one knows them like their families. Due to this, they should be encouraged to face their fears and talk more, to be comfortable with their gender identity around their household members and the society as a whole.
I agree that it is high time we educate the younger generation from early childhood about gender and gender identity. This will assist them when they grow up to find and discover themselves without copying other people’s identity like the celebrities. The article also plays a major role in helping others understand the issues of gender identity and how it changes in today’s world. This is because it uses real people in telling their stories and experiences shedding light on the issues that face gender identity and gender globally. (Pearce, 2011).
