Democracy has been the primary agenda of the minds of people of the western world. When I watch every day after work, I find myself curious about a variety of issues concerning the degree of government implemented by our municipal politicians. I assume that leaders must set a good example for the majority of the people to emulate. From public servants to private working people, there should be a clear hierarchy. It pains a great deal when I realize that not everyone is treated equally in the eyes of the law since racism quickly plays out when it comes to justice. I have encountered a situation where in the court of justice, the case of a known and wealthy individual is given a faster hearing and solved for that particular person, but the poor are marginalized to a situation where justice might be delayed for over five years. In the movie the great dictator, there is a personal anthology on the speech of Charlie Chaplin that keeps on running in my mind whenever I feel that we have collectively failed to embrace democracy in the modern society (Charlie Chaplin - Final Speech from the Great Dictator).
The clip starts with Charlie Chaplin refusing to be the empire because it isn’t his business. He keeps on sensitizing that he is not willing to conquer or rule anyone but wants to help people irrespective of their race. He keeps on sensitizing that human beings are made to help one another through leaving by each other’s happiness not each other’s misery. There is no room for hating and despising one other, there is only room for love and caring for one another.
Without losing the way of loving and caring for one another, life will be sweet and delicious of happiness. Greed has made the world to be full of hate, and people are busy scrambling for wealth instead of focusing on making the world better place for anyone alive and the future generation (Charlie Chaplin - Final Speech from the Great Dictator). The knowledge that people are gaining does not make the world better since people think too much and feel too little. Humanity is needed more than machinery and cleverness. Kindness and love are some of the qualities that human beings should embrace. With all the evil in the world, the dictators will die, and the right leaders of the future shall be born.
Liberty will never perish, and the power that has been taken from the people will one day be taken back to the people through democracy. I have a feeling that people should not give in to the leaders and members of the society who makes the world to be unbearable through corruption and dictatorship. Human beings are born to care for one another since they are not machines or kettle that needs or twisted all the time to get an outcome. With the essential humanity in human’s hearts, men are not supposed to hate for the hate is only for the unnatural people. People should better fight for liberty rather than slavery (“Charlie Chaplin - Final Speech from the Great Dictator”). Through the Bible, it is written that God is within men and hence people should have the quality of embracing one another. Everyone in the society has the power to make the world beautiful through democracy. In the name of democracy let all human unite to fight corruption and dictatorship for the world is for all of us.
