Benefits are a wide range of potential incentives and rewards that a company offers its staff. They are non-wage benefits provided to employees in addition to their regular pay or salaries. They include, among other things, health insurance, vacation time, and financial aid for education.

The overall benefits that an organization gives its workers in exchange for their effort is known as compensation. It consists of non-financial remuneration as well as direct and indirect money compensation.

Total incentives, which might include compensation, benefits, work-life balance, and possibilities for personal growth, are the overall benefits that a company offers its employees. The ethical issue in this situation is manipulation of information. Specifically, when the boss wants the information to be manipulated so that it looks better than the reality, it leads to unethical conduct. When information is manipulated, fabricated, or falsified, it could cause injustice to others because the truth will be hidden. The code of professional ethics in an organization requires that employees are treated with fairness, just, and with integrity, and that the information they are provided with should be true (Greenwood 356). It also demands that employers and employees be honest in their professional relationship.

Arguments for Manipulation of Information

Manipulation of information will make the employees change their perception towards the organization hence employer-employee relationship, which in return will give the organization a positive reputation.

Usually, if the value of the benefits is not explained to the employees, most of them ignore their importance. Manipulation information will make them utilize these benefits, and therefore, the company would save on the cost of its operations due to unutilized benefits.

Arguments against manipulation of Information

It is against the principle of beneficence that demands that individual should do what is good and has benefit to others. When information is manipulated, it could cause others harm hence going against what is needed for an individual.

It is in the ethical theory of utilitarianism, which requires that the interests of others are taken into account first. Notable, the moral theory of utilitarianism argues that the outcomes of an action should not cause harm or injustice (Rossouw et al. 127). Manipulation of information will be putting an individual’s interest first instead of that of employees.
