Because of different interpretations of the term, it may be difficult to provide a precise definition of spirituality. Nonetheless, it entails a sense of belonging to something larger than human humans. It usually entails looking for the purpose of life. It can also be defined as something distinct and incomparable to anything else. In other words, spirituality is something unique and strong that cannot be compared to anything else. Conventional perceptions emphasized that spirituality is analogous to a spiritual process that reforms an individual with the goal of transforming humans into a Mighty Force. Due to the varying nature of spirituality, some people will find it in church, temple, or mosque, while others only build a personal relationship with God (Naugle, n.d.). Some people also find solace in art or nature. As such, the nature of spirituality changes throughout life.
Pluralism and Postmodernism
Pluralism entails the idea of having varying perceptions and is typified by four key constituents including the enthusiastic engagement with diversity, continuous search for an understanding regarding the differences and commitments that are founded on dialogue. In the current globe, organizations have been championing for diversity as a means of becoming globalized. Therefore, people ought to understand one another and tolerate each other to illustrate diversity. Postmodernism typically entails the different models of art, philosophy, and architecture among other fields, which occurred during the mid-20th century. This era marked the end of modernism in the same fields. As such, people changed their conceptions of reality and science and began comprehending the same elements beyond human understanding. On the other hand, scientism is the applicability of scientific models to comprehend matters of politics and humanity. It mainly tries to emphasize on natural science than culture (Naugle, n.d.).
Prime Reality and Nature of the World
The prime reality is the infinite, Personal God as contained in the Holy Scriptures. It is good, triune, omniscient, sovereign, transcendent and internal. The term can be broken into two i.e. prime, which stands for importance, and reality that typifies existence. In that regard, a prime reality is the existence of a Supreme Being. The nature of the world strives to explain the existence of a Supreme Being evidencing creation. All that exists in this world is subject to a Powerful Being who has control over the entire universe. Evidently, the universe illustrates orderliness regarding how the earth moves, changing day and night, and coexistence within the earth among other elements (Faye, 2012). The natural phenomenon that describes the nature of the world portrays it as being contingent with actions of a Powerful Force.
Human Beings and what happens after Death
Human beings are created uniquely and in the image of God. They are different from all the other animals in terms of upright stance, mental development, and articulate speech. Although humans are perceived to resemble apes, they have a superior brain development, which distinguishes them from the same. The topic of life after death has been quite challenging for philosophers. Nonetheless, the lack of consistent theories does not influence the biblical approach on the same, which implies that whatever happens after death is dependent on one’s behaviors in the earth. In other words, there are only two main types of people i.e. the saved and the sinful. These two elements define the afterlife i.e. the righteous will transform to a higher state via the Supreme Being while the sinful will experience constant conscious punishment.
Is it possible to know anything, what is right or wrong, and human history?
The human nature is created in a manner that the thirst of exploration cannot be satisfied. God is all-knowing, and as such, it is passed onto us to have the same nature. In a means to quench this desire, humans keep on exploring. For instance, it is this unquenchable nature that led to the discovery of the universe and all that is entailed in the same. What is right or wrong is dependent on the cultural backgrounds. For example, different communities have instituted values that guide the society. The societies are bounded by these values and supposed to live within the same. Murder can be perceived as wrong while marrying at tender ages considered to be right in some societies. In that regard, whatever is right or wrong is dependent on the societal values. In philosophy, there are many theories that define what is morally wrong and right including the deontological, utilitarianism, and virtual ethics among others. It is also worth noting that our moral obligations are defined even at tender ages. As per human history, it is the mandate of all humans to realize God’s purpose. Once this is achieved, they must seek to serve His purpose on earth, which is to glorify Him. God reveals His salvation and restoration plan through the human history. The three key elements of human history entail life, death, and resurrection.
Overall, the human understanding of these concepts differs in interpretation due to the connotation of the term worldview. The varying perceptions are drawn from the scientific and religious evidence.
