a New Theory of Laughter

The author of “A Laughing Place: The Art and Psychology of Positive Humor in Love and Adversity,” after putting up a novel theory of laughter, has a very good manner of supporting his arguments. In order to accomplish this, he suggests that B’rer Rabbit was saved by comedy when he was in a really tight pickle. The arguments he makes are that the new theory of laughter brings the case that, the humor which is positive is usually available to each and every person who comes across adversity, signifying how to make humor work in an effective manner. According to my opinion, this makes sense because it is usually very difficult for a person to have a positive humor if one has not encountered diversity.

How is this book chapter different than a scholarly work (peer-reviewed journal article, book, etc.)? (I have attached the reading for this question)

This book chapter is basically different from scholarly work because the explanations and arguments found in here are not very straightforward and they can leave a reader requiring to dig more in order to get the exact point. A good example is found in this book chapter where this book alternates form, a serious to playful humor.

3.Discussion Unit 4 Topic 1-You have read about Humor and the Sense of Humor. Can a person be funny and lack a sense of humor? How do you, in your opinion, explain the difference between the two?

The main reason why a person can be funny and lack a sense of humor is that, positive humor and making a joke are not one and the same thing. In my opinion, sense of humor is that perspective which one takes to all of life and the performance employed to prompt that perspective while being funny is just triggering amusement or basically laughter.
