A person’s personal values and the role of family

A person’s personal values are developed in their family, which is currently the most powerful influence in society. A society’s moral foundation is shaped by its families, and the problems that arise in a family help foster good morals. Family is described as “the basic unit in society traditionally consisting of two parents rearing their children” in the Merriam-Webster dictionary from 2006. The role of the family in fostering common values and objectives, obligations to one another, and residing in the same place is not well covered by the term. These elements give the family the foundation needed to mold people’s morals and values. The shared identity, rules and regulations, and the common religious affiliation set the tone for individuals to gain values that guide their behavior as a member of the society. One’s development of values is dependent on the family and the close bond ensures the lessons learned at lifelong (Lucifora, 2012).

The positive impact of family on Christians

The force affects Christians positively because of the role it plays in the development of values that guide the people in the Christian faith. It is at the family level that Christians learn important values including forgiveness, loyalty, love, and companionship. The family also affects Christians positively by providing stability and offers a basis for spiritual development. Christians understand that it is at the family level that discipline and values are instilled on children as stated in Ephesians 6:4, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but raise them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” It is through discipline and instruction that Christians guide their children in developing personal values that align with God’s teachings. This shows that the family affects how parents and children relate to each other.

Advice on a harmonious family and its impact on society

My advice on a family is that it should be a basis for parents and children to relate in a harmonious manner full of respect and discipline such that the values and morals developed in each family are righteous. The effect is that all families and the society will have good morals and values. Having the best family set up, and great upbringing will aid in solving societal problems.
