In light of what I have read, observed, and learned, there are numerous strategies that American K–12 teachers might use to establish a secure and disciplined setting that is favorable to learning. First and foremost, teachers must make sure that the students’ classroom is tidy, welcoming, and clean. Making sure the classroom is in an environment that motivates pupils to accomplish their best will help achieve this (Burden, 2016). Secondly, the teachers require making sure that the classroom is arranged in a manner that there is an easy access to all the resources needed such as books, and calculators to ensure that as a teacher, you do not have to stop teaching. Thirdly, a teacher has to make sure that there is an ease when supervising his/her students. This can be achieved by may be asking the learners to write on the board for you as a teacher which greatly helps the students to make sure that they are directly involved in the teaching process (Burden, 2016).
The other way is that teachers need to ensure that they organize the physical space of the classroom meant for movement and interaction. This makes it simple for the learners to pull their desks together so that they can do some small group work. It also makes sure that the teacher can be able to walk around in the classroom easily (Burden, 2016). Lastly, K-12 teachers in the US require making it safe for the students to be able to take part and ask questions by making sure that despite what a student says, it becomes a normal thing to respond with respect.
